Who is this dog for?

 It would be a gift for my fiancé Makenzie. I would be trying to surprise her. We are looking for a forever friend that would be good with cats and one other dog. We are looking to expand our family and we are in love with the Corgi breed

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We love the look, they are beyond adorable and we have seen where they can be both energetic and a calm loving couch potato and we like the mixture of temperament. We have done some research but have never personally owned them, hoping to get our start with them.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I currently own a 2 year old Pembroke that we adopted as a puppy. I loved the breed forever and knew they were energetic, smart (sometimes bossy) dogs and I was so excited for the challenge. Now that I’ve owned a Pembroke, I love them more than ever. I know their needs and their quirks. I love all dogs, but corgis have such a special place in my heart.

 There is a couch in my study that he/she could sleep on, as well as any number of places for a dog bed. If the cats become acclimated to the pup, then the pup can sleep on the bed with all of us.

 We have a fenced-in backyard in a neighborhood conducive to long walks (and Emily loves to jog). We have a couple of parks nearby. The pup will get to play and exercise whenever he/she likes, really.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I had the opportunity to care for a Welsh Corgi this winter. Elliot is owned by an elderly man who encountered some health issues. I fell in love with this Corgi. Up to that point, I didn’t know much about Corgis. I loved his personality. He was not aggressive but stood up for himself when he needed to. I found him to be very smart. I tried a few training techniques with him and he learned them quickly. He looked forward to our twice a day walks. He won me over. I began reading about the characteristics of this breed and came to the conclusion that a Corgi would be a perfect fit for me. I am very active and I love the outdoors.. I think their size is perfect for me also. Not too big and not too little. Perfect. I believe that I would provide a wonderful home for a little Corgi.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 In my youth, my family used to show (confirmation and obedience) and raise dogs. We had both English Mastiffs and Cardigan Welsh Corgis. (Yes, there was quite a difference!) I grew to love the intelligence of the corgis, as well as the natural instincts, and the loyalty and desire to please their humans.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have always been a fan of the corgi breed. I researched the breed and found that they are easy to train because of their intelligence, they are herding animals, they love to exercise but yet able to live in many different environments. I have met several corgis and even attended an event in Minnesota where many corgis attended. Being a recent college graduate, this breed is perfect for my needs. I am energetic and able to entertain it, but it is an easier breed to train. I believe I could give a corgi a great home and the research I have done has solidified this.

 I am an active person and enjoying going to the dog park, hiking, and walks. I would exercise my corgi daily and socialize the corgi with other dogs. I would be very loving towards the dog and would give it a loving home.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		If I saw the corgi committing the act I would say no. I would make sure the dog knows that it made a mistake. For example, if the dog peed inside I would pick up the dog and put it outside if I could catch it before it was done. I would then praise the dog for going to the bathroom outside. Positive reinforcement is the best way to reinforce behavior, so I would sure to know the dog is praised for good behavior.

Discipline:
 I would discipline my dog only through my voice. I would never touch my dog or put it's face into the carpet if it peed. I would use a stern voice when I caught it doing a bad behavior, but again I would focus mostly on praising the dog for good behavior.

 My sister is an ER nurse who has a mixture of nighttime and daytime shifts. She would be home primarily with the dog. I wouldn't be home during all of the daytime but would come home to let the dog out during my lunch breaks if no one else in my family was home. My father would also be home on weeknights and weekends to help out.

Where would dog eat?
 My corgi would eat the food my veterinarian recommends for him/her. Currently, I do not know the age, sex, or history of the corgi so it is hard to say what they would eat. I would turn to my vet to recommend the best food for him or her.

Where would dog sleep:
 My adopted corgi would sleep in a good size cage until it is well socialized and house-trained. We would slowly begin to let it sleep in bed with me as it becomes more trained.

Play & exercise:
 I would provide my corgi opportunities to play every day. I go for walks, to the dog park, and hiking. The dog would come with me while I do this. The dog would slowly be socialized to other animals who it could play with as well.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 This would be the third Pembroke to live here. My last dog was. Male Pembroke named Norman who died in his sleep at the age of 15. We also had a Collie at the same time who passed when he was 13. Wanted a dog smaller than the Collie this time.

 I have had a corgi in the past and we love their unique personalities. The corgi I has was a corgi lab mix. A relative has a Pembroke Welsh Corgi that we have watched on multiple occasions. We have done some research on the breed and also know that there are often health issues with the breed.
