| Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions | |||||||
|
Who is this dog for? |
Myself. | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I like the size of the breed, I've had experience with larger breeds, but would enjoy having a smaller breed dog that enjoys physical activity as much as other larger breeds. I enjoy the outgoing temperament of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi who are open learning new activities and training. When weather permits I enjoy physical activities outdoors. With my previous dog I enjoyed doing activities with him such as reinforcing tricks, hide the trick games with treats or his favorite toys. I have done research on the health conditions, grooming needs, and diet of this breed and understand the specific needs of the breed.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
Activities I would plan to do is casual walk outdoors, near the trails I live by or dog parks that are available. I enjoy the mental stimulation of obedience training and would pursue in doing classes with the Pembroke Corgi. On days when I work remote, I am home to do activities and take walks with the Corgi. With family members who are veterinarians they would assist me diagnosing any concerns or illnesses that could affect activities of the Pembroke Corgi.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
I would identify and understand what resulted in the behavior to find the appropriate action to positively correct mistakes the Pembroke could possibly make. All dogs may act differently, but I would rely on the training and information about the Pembroke Corgi to find effective methods to train the Pembroke I may home.
Discipline: |
positive reinforcements with treats and consistent actions or methods to discipline the dog to provide structure or routine. In order to keep the dog mentally and physically stimulated.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
The Pembroke would spend most of its time with me in my house. Walking outside around the neighborhood or nearby the nature preserve.

|
Who is this dog for? |
Our Family | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
Originally, my daughter asked to get one just because she thought they were so cute. We've watched countless videos of this spirited breed. We started to research the breed more extensively as the consideration to get one became more serious. Our 15 yo JRT is nearing her life expectancy and we could never replace her, but would like to maintain a companion for our 4 yo JRT after our senior girl is gone.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
My daughter has worked extensively with our current pups in training them, teaching them tricks and making sure they're well adjusted. My husband is a huge animal lover and our JRT's accompany him around to do 'chores' and we keep them quite busy. We're an active family and we live in a rural area with lots of room to roam.

In the house, outside on the 7 acre property, visiting the in laws 40 acres just miles away from home. Car rides (if they like them) and pretty much anywhere we go as a family.

Constantly on the weekends, although Monday through Friday they are left on their own from 9-5. They have access to a doggy door that leads to a fully fenced in yard that is large enough to run and play.

The food and water dishes are in the dining room near the kitchen.
Where would dog sleep: |
Wherever they're comfortable. We have a serta posturepedic dog bed (2ft x 3ft) in our livingroom. They also have a smaller bed in the laundry room and another on the front porch. Our 4yo JRT usually sleeps with us.
Play & exercise: |
We're an active family that is usually outside in any weather doing something. The kids play a lot of sports. We play a lot of fetch too! My daughter even made a small novice agility course for our JRT's

| Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions | |||||||
|
Who is this dog for? |
Mainly for Matt, who just had to put down his 14.5 yr old rescue dog that came down with DM. But we both want a Corgi to join our home & family. We don't have any children. The dogs are our kids and our life revolves around them. We currently have 5 Australian Shepherds that are trained in obedience, rally & some agility, and we also have an older Australian Cattle Dog.
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
Jennifer used to be a 4-H leader for 10 years, and one of her students had 2 Corgi's, which is when we fell in love with the breed. We love herding dogs in general, and are looking for something smaller to add to our family. We love their energy. We are familiar with health problems that can arise in this breed.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We attend ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America) shows, and any dog can compete in their obedience, rally & agility programs. If the dog showed any interest in those, we'd love to pursue it. If not, we would just enjoy living with the dog, where it could go on walks on our 55 acre farm with us.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
We use positive correction & training. We have several years experience training dogs in obedience and rally.
Discipline: |
We use positive correction. All of our dogs have some level of obedience training, even if just to the novice level. We want our entire group to live together well, and for us to enjoy living with them all.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
At night, until trusted, our dogs are crated. Once they can be trusted, they sleep lose in our house. If we are just going to be gone for a bit, we use a crate. If we're going to be gone for a few hours, we have 4×8 kennels, with rubber mat flooring and kuranda pet cots. The dog will spend most of it's time inside with us.
Discipline: |
We use positive correction. All of our dogs have some level of obedience training, even if just to the novice level. We want our entire group to live together well, and for us to enjoy living with them all. Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: At night, until trusted, our dogs are crated. |

When it's super cold or hot, they are usually just out to potty and then we play indoors the rest of the time. When it's nice out, our dogs enjoy playing in the yard a lot!

Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
A firm no and backing them away from whatever they got into they weren't suppose to. If has an accident in the house, take them outside to show them that is where they should go potty then clean up the mess. Yelling does nothing but scare the dog so I know to never yell or scold a dog
