|
Who is this dog for? |
The new family member will be joining a family of four (dad, mom, 9 year old boy and 6 year old boy). We have no other pets. My oldest son is ready for a dog of his own with the help and support of all of us.
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We are a family who loves spending time together, taking long walks and watching movies at home. We researched and read about the Corgi Breed and feel it would be a good match for our lifestyle and family. The breed is a great compliment to our family. We read that Corgis are generally loyal to the family unit, intelligent, and playful. Our previous dog was a very active and intelligent Jack Russell terrier and we had many wonderful years. |

| Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions | |||||||
|
Who is this dog for? |
Myself | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I’ve wanted a corgi for years. I’ve fallen in love with their outgoing personalities, their adorable stature, and how they always make me smile. I have a good friend with a corgi and he’s amazing! I’ve seen corgis out with their owners while I was driving past, and I’ve pulled over just to ask them if I could pet their dog! I’ve done a lot of research and want to put in the time and effort required for such a smart breed.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
Using a firm voice, say “no”.
Discipline: |
I would like to crate train. I’ve read that only using the corgi’s name with good praise (like “good boy, ___” instead of “bad ____!”) is beneficial to correcting behavior that is not desired.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
In the house (where I usually am, with the exception of a couple hours every now and again), with me (running errands, on walks, etc), and playing outside.

|
Who is this dog for? |
For Rose and Grayson Gajewski
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We have read many articles on Pembroke Corgis. They have the same traits as a chow chow. Because of its size it is very similar to what we have. We feel they would be great together.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We go for walks with Suki 2-3 times a day. We bought our house 2 1/2 years ago and put up a fence. We go outside and play with Suki so she can run freely. We go on many car rides and to the pet stores to look for new toys together.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
Clean it up…whatever it is. Never make the dog feel bad for having an accident. Then help them get outside or clean them up.
Discipline: |
We are stern in our voice but never ever hit.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
Always with the family. In the house. We don't use crates. So, at bedtime it is in our bedroom with us. Suki has free rain to go where she wants in the house. We are always together as I am a stay at home person.

Who is this dog for? |
Dylan and Joel. | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We have read they are very energetic dogs. We are looking for a dog that will go on long walks with us. They aren’t too big but not too small. We’ve also read that a lot of Pembrokes like water and we live near a lot of water.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We want to go on long walks, some agility activities at the dog park (after vaccinations are received), and swimming in the pool.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
Positive reinforcements. Instead of punishing the Pembroke for making a mistake, we would encourage him or her to do the right thing with small treats.
Discipline: |
Positive reinforcements, and the crate should be a safe place, not a punishment zone.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
The Pembroke would spend most of his or her time roaming freely around the house. 30-45 minute walks 2-3 times a day, with various bathroom breaks throughout the day as well. We also have a dog park in our neighborhood we want to make use of, after all vaccines are recieved/boostered.

House dog | ||||||
People at home during the day? |
Yes, as a college student I am only away from home for 3-4 hours a day, two days a week. I spend most of my free time at home working on school assignments.
Where would dog eat? |
The Pembroke would have a water bowl available at all times in the kitchen. Depending on how the vet encourages us to feed the dog, once a day, twice a day or graze feed, we would feed him or her according to the vets discretion in the kitchen where food belongs. If the vet recommends a graze feed, we would keep the food bowl near the water bowl in the kitchen.
Where would dog sleep: |
The adopted corgi would sleep where he or she wanted. If she wants to sleep in bed with us, we will let her. If she wants to sleep on the couch she can, if she wants to use her crate and dog bed she can. We don’t want to limit the dog in its own home.
Play & exercise: |
We would walk her 2-3 times a day for 30-45 minutes to ensure that she’s walking enough and getting adequate time to use the bathroom. We have a dog park in our neighborhood we want to utilize at least once a day, where we can run around together or throw a toy around.

|
Who is this dog for? |
For my wife and me. | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We have always loved corgi. Multiple members of family and friends have/had a Corgi and we loved how playful they were. We enjoy that it's not a big dog but at the same time not a "purse" dog either. We have done research on the breed and understand what will go into taking care of it and providing a good home.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We like to walk around the neighborhood and go to the lake. Hiking and weekend trips are numerous for us. Walking around downtown and going to breweries is something we enjoy. We visit friends and family who would enjoy playing with the dog as well.

|
Who is this dog for? |
It is for me, and everyone we see while out and about.
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
My girl Shelby was the best companion dog that I have ever had. Adorable, attentive, intuitive, extremely good natured. Smart as a whip. Albiet, kinda stubborn. Oh and did I say "The absolute cutest dogs in the world"!
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
Owning a floor covering store requires me to cover the showroom from time to time. It is a real ice breaker for customers that are dog lovers. I also drive Semi trucks part time. Shelby went with me on almost all of my local within Michigan trips. She loved it, and everyone she met always asked for her. An absolute people magnet. Summer time swimming, hiking, loafing, working. Outside a lot. Right now its about 3 degrees.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
Depends on the mistake? If I witness the mistake it could require scooping the dog up and heading outside, trying not to get to excited. That includes me. lol If I don't witness the mistake more than likely the dog would have no idea why I would be upset. Unless it a repeated issue. Then shame on me, I think. |
||||||
Discipline: |
Gentle coaxing, reassuring voices and regular commands. Consistency is best, works with kids too.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
Absolutely with me when ever possible. Except in extreme hot or cold. I have broken a window in the mall parking lot to save , or at least cool of a dog. I called the police, waited a few minutes, and took action. No ticket or charges. Frankly, I would definitely do it again.
Discipline: |
Gentle coaxing, reassuring voices and regular commands. Consistency is best, works with kids too. Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: Absolutely with me when ever possible. Except in extreme hot or cold. I have broken a window in the mall parking lot to save , or at least cool of a dog. I called the police, waited a few minutes, and took action. No ticket or charges. Frankly, I would definitely do it again. |
