Who is this dog for?

For both of us; we are boyfriend and girlfriend and ready to add to our family.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We love their personality, playfulness, their size, and of course their butts! We take walks by the local dog park and really enjoyed watching our neighbor’s Corgi run around with the other dogs. The owner of the Corgi had nothing but good things to say about the breed. We have done extensive research on the breed. We think a Corgi would get along especially well with our two cats.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Frequent walks in the neighborhood and trips to the dog park. We would let the Corgi get plenty of exercise.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I recently lost my black lab/border collie who was 12 1/2 years old. That I had since puppy. I am looking for another dog, but I am 61 years old so I am looking for a dog who likes to go for walks but isn't as energetic as by lab/border collie was. I have a fenced in back yard, so dog would have place to run. I spend a lot of time outside in yard summer, I researched on website what dogs are good for seniors. This breed was listed.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I would like to take 30 minutes walks daily when weather permits. In the winter, it is too slippery sometimes to walk on sidewalks. I work from home so the company would be nice. In the summer, I spend a lot of time outside working on my yard. Like to have dog that enjoyed being in fenced in back yard.

Who is this dog for?

He/she is for a young loving couple who wants to extend their love to a new family member!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We love the cute, friendly, and playful nature of the Pembroke. We have always dreamed of having one but are not comfortable purchasing one as we are very much advocates for adopting animals. We love how smart they are because it would make playtime even more enjoyable. Additionally, Priscilla works at a nursing home where the employees are encouraged to bring their dogs to work with them, as the residents absolutely love them. There are two Corgis who frequently come to work with staff and from what we have seen, they are the perfect size and have great personalities for playing with the residents. Corgis are very affectionate dogs who are happiest around people and we would be very affectionate owners who are happiest around our dog.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We plan on taking frequent trips to the nearby dog park, trying out different toys to keep it stimulated and happy, having it accompany Priscilla to work where it will be busy entertaining residents and staff, and cuddling on the couch after a long days work,

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
It depends on the mistake. If it’s a voiding issue, such as urinating/defecating somewhere it is not supposed to, then we will keep a closer watch in order to pick up cues and we will take it out more frequently. Most importantly, we will reward the dog when it does what it is supposed to so that it associates the event (i.e. voiding outside) with rewards.

Discipline:
We are firm believers of positive reinforcement, meaning we will reward good behavior to encourage our dog to keep doing so. We are not comfortable with physical punishment, including isolation, as they are a part of our family. Distraction objects/activities, such as clickers and commands (sit) have been successful for our past dogs growing up, so we will be attempting those.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
He/she would spend most of their time with Priscilla at her job, otherwise the dog will be at our home.

Who is this dog for?

For us in our home.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We love their fun and goofy personalities and feel like they would be a good match for our life style. We have done research on the breed and understand that they require attention and activity, both of which we are willing and able to provide! We have minimal direct experience with the breed with the exception of a few Corgis that lived in our previous apartment building.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would take our Corgi on walks and play with him/her both inside our apartment and outside in our yard (we live in a two-flat). We would love to spend time relaxing with the dog around the house. We enjoy outdoor activity (e.g. hiking in forest preserves, spending time in local parks) in the warmer months and are looking forward to have a companion. We even dream of bring him/her with us down to our lake house in Tennessee.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I like the looks and size of the Corgi. I know they can be energetic but I'm hoping there might be one for me who is not so much. One that wouldn't sitting in the house being a couch potato but also likes to go outside to play with the chihuahuas if she so please. Going on occasional walks and visits to a friend with a dog would be good also. We visit there almost weekly, everyone gets out to play, have treats and enjoy a different scene.
I like the smaller dogs but have no direct experience with Corgi's and I'm starting to read about them more since Susan has passed away but am not in a hurry to replace her. Right now is too soon, we're still grieving but after a while we'll be ready for a new friend.

Walking in the neighborhood and over in St. Paul when visiting there.

Who is this dog for?

We just recently lost our second rescue Corgi, Cosmo and would like to welcome another Corgi into our home

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We are dedicated to the breed and have had two rescue corgis we adopted seperatly through Lakeshore in the past. Each dog was approximately 3 years old at adoption and lived to aroun age 14. Both developed a common neurological disorders and paralysis among corgis in their old age. Despite the heartbreak and challenges of caring for a dog with those complications we are happy to bring another corgi into our home.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
WALK! Our corgis were both very happy walkers and well liked in the neighborhood. Our first, Kirby loved to participate in agility training. Our second, Cosmo had serious issues with other dogs, and never got over his socialization problems, but enjoyed playing ball in our hard and a vigorous walking routine.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Firm “No”, must be done immediately

Discipline:
Depending on the behavior, a verbal “No”, firmly positioning the dog down in a laying position rolled on his back. We always found this to be the most effective but must be done during the “act”. In general, we can accomplish more with treats and toys, before bad behavior begins.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
With us in our home. If crate tolerant, I would consider crating. We have a dog walker who we used regularly for daily walks during our work hours.
