Who is this dog for?

This Pembroke would be for my boyfriend and I. We moved in together in August and would love a new addition to our small family. We have both grown up being dog lovers and don't feel complete without a furry friend running around our home.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I have taken care of numerous breeds of dogs and I have done the research for Pembroke Welsh Corgis. I love everything about this breed and I think the Pembroke Welsh Corgi demeanor would get along great with my boyfriend, myself, and our home. We live in an apartment so we wanted a smaller dog. I also like to take my dogs with me and be active with my dogs.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would go for numerous walks and runs. We would play outside a lot. We would go to dog parks and on trips. My boyfriend's family lives in Missouri so we would take our Pembroke with us on trips. We would also go swimming,

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
It is important to show the dog that it made a mistake and to use a stern voice with the dog. It is important that the dog has training to know right from wrong. It is also important to stay consistent with your rules and expectations of your dog. The more that the dog is used to a regular and consistent routine, the less accidents and mistakes will happen.

Discipline:
Some methods of disciple I have used with a dog is showing the dog it's mistake and using a stern voice. I have also corrected a dog by disciplining him/her on the nose.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
My Pembroke would spend most of his/her time in common areas of my apartment. I would not keep him/her locked up or in his/her crate. I would train the dog so we could trust him/her to be around the apartment without having an accidents or destroying anything. We would also spend a lot of time outside or running.

Who is this dog for?

Both of us, this will be our dog.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
My fiancee and I have talked about having a dog for over a year now. I always had a boxer growing up and love them but we've fallen in love with the quirky personality of all the corgis we have met. We've done a lot of research and believe a corgi fits in great with our active lifestyle. The clever and challenging actions of corgis would keep us on our toes and we know we would be able to keep one entertained.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Hike, kayak, walk, go to the lake. He/she would have a ton of time to explore outdoors in our large fenced yard as well.

Who is this dog for?

This corgi would be for me. I am a student at the University of Minnesota and I recently have returned from a year off to go through cancer treatment. Coming back to life in college I have realized that I am alone more and tend to have anxiety and some homesickness. I would love to have a cute companion to unconditionally love and go through life together. I have a lot of time with my school schedule and think a cute little pupper would be the perfect way to motivate me to exercise more.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I love the size of the corgi because it is not too small and just the right size for me living on my own. Also I have fallen in love with their little legs and cute butts! They are also super friendly which I love. There is a guy in my apartment complex that has a corgi and he is adorable. I have not done too much research on the breed but believe that this breed is the perfect one for me.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I would take my pup for walks in the park and around campus. I would maybe take them to training classes for basic training. I would love to take my corgi to a dog park and let it run around!

The Pembroke is for me, Denise.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
As a child my aunt & uncle had a Corgie on thier farm in Racine County Wisconsin. They obtained it from thier friend and Corgie breeder, Glee Leet, also from Union Grove WI. I played with "Copper" on the farm and loved to visit Glee's dogs and especailly her new puppies.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We live in a rural village in eastern Wisconsin, at the bottom of lake Winnebago. We would take walks…I need to be inspired to exercize and big brown Corgie eyes, begging or a walk is the best inspiration I can think of! We'll walk up to my church and do volunteer work there, and up to Mrs. Wyms house and visit her (she's 91!) And we'll hang around the house and watch some TV.

Myself and my kids 🙂

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Lots of Corgis in the horse world! I have multiple friends with them, They are smart and have funny unique personalities.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I live on a farm, the dog can play ball or run with my kids. They are old enough to take him/her to obedience classes.
I work outside all day, and the dog would possibly go to horse shows with me as well.
Or the dog can chill out in the house too.. watch tv with us 🙂

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Growing up I always wanted a corgi. Their attitude and temper/sass was what a fell in love with. Then I met my wife who is from England. I made a joke about corgi butts. She looked me dead in the eye and said “ corgi butts are no joking matter because I have a corgi butt shape hole in my heart” I new I loved her right there !!

Who is this dog for?

For me and my girlfriend. We’ve been wanting a dog (specifically a corgi) for a while but have been waiting until it was the right time. Like children, you can’t have a dog until you’re ready and available to give them the love and time they need.

A nice lady I met walking her corgi around the neighborhood recommended this group to me because of how her corgi responded me. She had adopted and rescued a Pembroke that had been abused in a prior house and was afraid of strangers, but felt comfortable letting me pet her and talk to her.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I’ve always wanted a corgi based on the ones I’ve met and the personalities they had. They’re spunky dogs with street smarts, loving, high energy with the want to go on walks but also small enough to sit next to you on the couch.

I’ve done a ton of research, especially in the realm of why one should NOT get a corgi. Most have said they’re high energy, generally expensive, loud, and too smart so they tend to get bored when not stimulated.

I found all of these to be manageable issues. I live in a house so barking isn’t a major concern, my last dog barked at squirrels 24/7 and apparently didn’t like it when some people hugged. I also live next to a forest preserve with extensive and well maintained trails perfect for walks. I’ve also been interested in doggy puzzle toys that can keep a dog stimulated and I’d like to teach the corgi tricks to keep them learning.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Like I was saying more thoroughly above, I’d like to take my corgi on walks. I know they have small legs so I’d be prepared to evacuate our walk if needed and carry them if they got too tired. I’d also like to go to a dog park (after some vetting) and go camping.

I try to use hand gestures as well as teach them the command for no so they understand it means stop.

House dog

People at home during the day?
Multiple family members would be around at all times.

Where would dog eat?
They would eat in the kitchen but away from the table

Where would dog sleep:
This is always the hardest part because dogs in general tend to sleep where they feel most comfortable. I will get a doggie bed that can go in my bedroom next to my bed.

Play & exercise:
I would socialize him with my friend’s dog who is well disciplined and friendly towards other dogs. I’d love to go to dog parks as well as forest preserves to get in both of our exercise needs.

How will you exercise your dog?
Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Are you willing to work on it if your new dog doesn’t get along with your current pets right away?
Yes, it is something you can’t ignore when you live under the same roof. I don’t plan on having more than one dog at a time but would definitely test the waters first if we did get another dog.
