Some physical such as hearing issues (I wear hearing aids), vision (I have a strong eye prescription), a missing limb. Also separation issues I don’t see as a problem since I spend most of my time at home and usually only go out to the the grocery or the doctor’s appt. I do on occasion end up in the hospital but when that happens my daughter takes Roarke to her house so he is never totally alone, although he doesn’t have a problem with being alone for some periods of time.

Who is this dog for?

Myself. I became disabled about 3 yrs ago and for the most time stay at home. I have a fantastic 12yr Old Pembroke named Roarke who is my constant companion. Last yr he had a major health issue where I almost lost him and realized I wanted to add to my “family” before that happened. I am not able to go through the wonderful puppy time and am looking for a adult that has matured a little. A adult with separation issues wouldn’t be a problem for me or even physical issues such as hearing, some vision issues or a missing limb. I’m not perfect either. Please keep me in mind as a forever home for a wonderful Pembroke. I am more than willing to travel to be considered as a new parent. I have a wonderful support system should that is more than ready & willing to help me love another. Roarke goes to “sleep” overs at sissies house where he is bathed, fluffed, spoiled and fed his special treats fresh green beans.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I adore my Roarke a Pembroke. I so enjoy their positive attitude, he always make me smile all through the day. Their intelligence and somewhat stubborn attitude on occasion. Having lived with Roarke for over 12 years we have pretty much experienced just about every situation a couple can, Been mad at each other and got over it, shared joy, loss, frustration, you name it. His sister has lived with me frequently over these 12 yrs since my son was in the Navy and not always able to take her with him overseas. Yes I have done frequent research over the years because the breed just fascinates me

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I’m not able to walk far but I have a fenced in yard and enjoy going out in the yard with him or we go out on my front porch so he can inform the neighbors he is in charge and requires loving. I travel to Baltimore several times a year. Bursts of sudden energy are fine but not constant or hyper

Current pets:

Current pets dog friendly?

Yes, all of our current pets are friendly toward dogs.

Are you willing to work on it if your new dog doesn’t get along with your current pets right away?
Yes! Giving up is only a final resort. The puppy I Had adopted I only gave up once it became clear Iwas not a good fit for him or he for me when he twice pulled me off my feet and caused me to fall. He was just toohyperactive and needed a family with plenty of energy to help him use that in a positive way. I can’t move quickly and the playing I can’t give him a good release of energy to help deal with it. I was told he was corgi, dachshund but believe he was possible fox terrier with hyper energy.

Lifetime commitment to Pembroke?

Yes, I am willing to commit to this dog for the rest of its life.

Return to Lakeshore if unable to care for Pembroke?
Yes, I will only surrender my adopted corgi to LPWCR if I am unable to care for it.

Understand no guarantees?

Yes, I understand that there are no guarantees regarding the condition, health, behavior or personality of the Pembroke I adopt.

Carefully considered the pluses and minuses of adopting a pet?
Yes, I have carefully thought out my decision to adopt a Pembroke and am willing to deal with the consequences.

Who is this dog for?

The corgi would be for me mostly but my husband is a big fan as is my son (who is 35).

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have owned 3 and just had to have our last one put to sleep in April 2018 as she had kidney failure at age 12. We had a single female in the 2000s and when she passed we got a pair of puppy sisters. One died 2 years ago and the other this past April.

We love corgis – my son has one also – we love their energy, their love and personalities. They are happy and fun loving and yet cuddle – we have loved them so very much –

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We live in the Northwoods with lots of property. We live on a beach and our other corgis liked to stand in the water to their bellies in the hot summer, but they really loved to place on the beach in the sand playing this crazy game they invented, one would act like a bull and scrape the sand, the other would down the beach and then make an unexpected run at the first one – they wouldn't hit but they'd roll around so cute to watch – I wish I had a video of it. We love to walk so the dog would get lots of exercise.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
At first just gently repeat the exercise or if it is like an accident in the house, clean it up, and take the dog outside. Then watch the dog back in the house and make sure it has many times to go outside and reward when the dog goes to the bathroom outside with a small treat and much verbal response.

Discipline:
Simple no or a 'tisk' verbal sound. Keep on leash until outside commands are obeyed.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
We usually have a crate so the dog can feel safe – our others corgis all slept in their crate with door open at night. We usually give them run of the house.

Who is this dog for?

It is for Meghann and I.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We want to adopt a Pembroke Welsh Corgi because Meghann came in contact with the breed a few years ago and fell in love. We love their unique and vibrant personalities and, of course, how adorable they are! We have done research on the breed and realize that these dogs like to herd (very active) and can be noisy; however, we are willing to work with any issues and love the corgi!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would go on walks in the park and around the neighborhood, play with toys, play in the backyard, cuddle, go to the groomer, go to dog events around the city (if the corgi's personality permits), take naps together, play games together, and I'm sure many other things!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
It depends on the mistake, but never with physical force. Most likely we would give a distraction or an alternative to whatever the corgi has done. For example, if the corgi has pottied in the house, we would immediately take it outside. If the corgi chewed on a shoe, we would be firm in saying "no" and replace the shoe with a toy.

Discipline:
Firm voice, distractions

Who is this dog for?

He/she won't be for anyone… we want one to become part of our family!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I have always wanted a wigglebutt Corgi! My husband and I both grew up with special canines that became important parts of our families and lives. I grew up with a sassy Frenchie named Ginger and a loveable giant Saint Bernard named Max. Neither of them are with us today, but I miss them always! A few years down the road, and we ventured out to start our own family with a home of our own. Now we have 2 beautiful kiddos, Rylan (boy, 7) and Ariella (girl, 3) and a cute little 3 bedroom house. We had always talked about adopting a fur baby, and our recent situation accelerated our search. For the last few weeks, we've had a furry house guest. A friend needed to house his beautiful Husky, Tawnka, for a few weeks while he dealt with a difficult moving situation. We LOVED having him here! He was spoiled with all the love and attention he could stand and we all got pretty attached to this sweet old boy…
Needless to say, we decided now was the time. Corgi has been my favorite breed of dog for quite a few years now. Seriously, how can you say no to that face?! And after doing quite a bit of research, I fell in love with them even more. I wanted to look into possible medical issues for them as well as temperament, grooming and family situations. I was very pleased to find that they are hailed as easy to train, intelligent, affectionate and family oriented. It's quite an exciting and scary prospect to choose which breed to pursue, as there are many things to be considered. But i'm confident that the breed will be a good fit for our family and situation. So we ask you please, help our Corgi find us! We would be so honored and happy to be chosen by a wigglebutt from Lakeshore!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We are a family that loves to do everything together. My husband works 2 jobs during the week so I can stay home with the kids, but he has off every weekend. So our little friend will be not be left alone very often. I'm home most of my day with kiddos, and on the weekends he/she will get to tag along on whatever adventure we're on! Or just stay home getting all the love and cuddles. We are also a big fan of family walks, so of course adding one more to the pack will be easy!

Who is this dog for?

Me. I am a single, 61 year old woman. I work full time so I am looking for an older dog. I have a fairly new rescue, Buddy, that is a very sweet 7 year old male. I think he gets lonely during the day and I would like to find a sweet female corgi (has always been a breed I've wanted). I would prefer to rescue a dog that needs a home. I have had four rescues and each one was a joy.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I love the look of a corgi, it's size, temperment and sweet nature. I had a neighbor that had one and it was so well mannered, an all around good dog.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Lots of walks. She would have the company of my current dog and I hope they would become best friends.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I have had three PWCs in my life. I love them dearly. Frankly, I love them even at their most stubborn. Peach just recently lost her friend and I would love to rescue another so she won't be lonely.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I walk, a lot. The dogs come with me. When Gwennie's arthritis got so bad she couldn't walk, I pulled her in a wagon. She loved it and was the hit of the neighborhood.

Who is this dog for?

Both, we are a couple looking to add a Corgi to our family

Why do you want a Pembroke?
My boyfriend and I have thought about dogs a lot in the past year, we found a friend who had a corgi and have spent a lot of time with them and decided that the breed might be right for us. We are looking for a small to medium sized dog who loves to be around people, loves to cuddle, and wants to be active. We have done some research on corgis, but have mostly experienced them in person with our friend who has one. We know training a puppy can be a lot of work, but we both have experience with young dogs and are excited for the next chapter in our lives with this dog.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
-running
-walks
-hiking
-playing fetch outside
-play dates with other dogs

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
We would handle this like any dog, we want to discipline the dog, but also understand that the dog is learning and adapting to a new environment. The punishment/reaction would depend on the mistake. For example, if the dog goes to the bathroom in the house, we would make sure they know they are not allowed to do that and then bring them outside so they can try to go again and learn that is where they go.

Discipline:
Unfortunately, we know discipline is part of raising a dog. We would use small discipline acts when needed. This could include lightly hitting on the butt or nose so they know they did something wrong, but not hard enough to truly hurt the dog as that is not what we want to do. However, we would also use praising when the dog does something good so they know the difference between wrong and right.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Our Pembroke would spend most of their time at our house with us playing, relaxing, and having fun.
