Who is this dog for?

Our family, consisting of us and our two kids, age 17 and 22.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
My family and I have always loved how small and adorable they were, specifically the way they walk around. We also love their larger than life attitude and how they are very loyal dogs. While we have never had a corgi before, we have seen some in our neighborhood and seen how friendly and loving they really are. I have done research on a corgi and how they shed a lot, their barking habits, and also their herding heritage.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would go for walks every single morning, afternoon, and night to explore his new home and landscape. We would also take him to dog parks and carefully introduce him to new dogs so he can have some friends to play with. We may even teach him how to swim so he can enjoy the water.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
We would show them that they made a mistake by saying bad dog and by putting it in timeout or by taking away treats.

Discipline:
We believe in positive reinforcement or punishment rather than just yelling or using a shock collar. We would take away treats, put them in timeout, or not interact with them to show them that they did something wrong.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
They would spend most of their time inside our house, but we will still be able to take them outside very often to enjoy their environment while also getting used to it.

People at home during the day?
Yes, my son and daughter would be there in the morning ready to feed the corgi and take him for morning walks.

Where would dog eat?
They would eat food out of dog bowls filled with good, nutritious food and also water.

Where would dog sleep:
For the first few months, the adopted corgi would sleep inside a crate until he is fully potty trained, but when they are, we will allow them to sleep beside us in our beds.

Play & exercise:
We will always take the adopted corgi for a long walk in the morning (30+ mins), a walk in the afternoon, and a walk in the night to get plenty of exercise. We will also take them to dog parks to play with other dogs, but we will be cautious to introduce them first. Since we have friends with dogs of their own, we will be able to set up fun play dates for the adopted corgi to have lots of fun.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I love my sheltie/corgi mix. A pembroke is the perfect size for our "family". I am hoping to find a pembroke who would develop a good relationship with Dobby (female) due to similiar size and temperment..
I will trust the foster parents to assess if we are a good match to the needs of the dog.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Walks. We have a large fenced in dog yard in the country but near a subdivision. The fence is only 4 feet high so will need a dog that is unable yo jump the fence. The fence is designed so the dog cannot dig out. We prefer real fences to invisable fence to keep the dog safe from other animals etc. We have a series of dog doors that allow the dog to go outside at will. Since we are retired we are only away from our home for very short periods at a time. We initially plan to crate the dog only until it he adapts to his new home. We do need a corgi whose barking habits are within a normal to quiet range due to our RV camping. Duncan was an excessive barker and very reactive to other dogs which made our neighbors unhappy.

Both of us. We have had 3 corgis ( 1 rescue) in our lives to date. We just lost our last 2 in 2017 and miss them terribly and would like to rescue another one.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have had 3 corgis over the past 20 years so are very familiar with the breed and their traits, habits and cuteness factor. We love the way they do their "happy dance" on their backs on the floor or grass. Or when they vibrate/wag their nub of a tail.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Every time someone asks what kind of dog I want, I always say I want a corgi. I have had friends of mine with dogs and for what ever reason the corgi that they had was on of the most personality driven dogs I had ever met. I am currently living by my self, and want a dong that will get me out of the house and keep me active. I will be living in an apartment complex that is extremely dog friendly, to a point where that have monthly events meant for dogs to attend. I also have many friends with dogs and would have regular times every week for them to run around and attend the dog park. I not only want a corgi for a social reason, but also for a personal one. I have always had pets in my life to help me get through the hard times, weather that was cheering me up by running around and being a goof, or by laying on my lap giving me kisses and snuggles. i know that every dog is capable of doing that but there is nothing like a kiss from a corgi when it comes to cheering me up.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I want to be able to walk my dog around the city I am living in, including urban areas and more rural river walks. As well as going to a hiking trail every now and then. I also want something that will be non aggressive towards other dogs, as I plan on attending dog parks and playmates with them to help keep them as well as my self, active and social

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
A firm statement, along with an unhappy face, something along the lines of "No, Stop it." Every situation will be different, and it is hard for me to provide a specific example. Also rewarding with a happy tone as well as an occasional treat for good behavior and actions. Every one makes mistakes, but I would have to figure out the dogs personality before I commit to a way to treat it.

Discipline:
Depending on the situation the punishments could range from putting the dog down so it understand that it did something wrong, Making a loud noise so the dog understands it did something wrong, or even just some alone time, like a time out if the situation warranted it

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Most of the Day we would be at home, however there would be plenty of time to be active throughout the average week.

Who is this dog for?

We’re interested in adopting or rescuing a Pembroke Welsh Corgi into our family and to also be pals with our Border Collie.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
As a family we enjoy the energy and fun that herding dogs bring, when researching to rescue another herding breed, we ended up liking what we have read and seen about Pembroke Welsh Corgies. They enjoy playing with other dogs, family members, and exercise. While we do not have direct experience with Corgies, we rescued and raised a Border Collie pup from 10 weeks and have much experience with keeping herding dogs active and engaged as part of the family.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Indoor and outdoor play which would include, but not limited to: Catch, Fetch, Hide-and-seek, obedience training, therapy training, running, long walks in forest, camping, and local dog parks. Na is a stay at home mom who spends a lot of time training.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
We reinforce positive behavior with excitement and training treats. When a mistake is made, we will use as a training opportunity. Example, if they chew a pillow, we will bring their toy and swap it out so they learn what is theirs to chew.

Discipline:
We reinforce positive behavior with excitement and training treats.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
During school hours training either in the house or outside depending upon weather conditions. Evenings snuggling with family members at bed time.

I (Heidi) work at home. I'm an artist and I sell my oil paintings through galleries. I would want a dog who is okay with just being nearby and content while I work in my studio, which is just a large room in our home. I don't want a dog that is like velcro and has to be right next to me or under foot all the time. But I have had my previous dogs' beds in there with me and they would nap while I work.

My husband and me.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We had a neighbor that had a Corgi named Chuck. He would come over and hang out with us (outside). He has passed away and we do miss him. I think it was his fun personality and cute short legs that we fell in love with!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Daily walks, hiking., car rides. We'd also like to be able to take our dog to local outdoor eating areas and enjoy a meal with him, so he/she should be well behaved and not have issues with being out in public.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
A firm 'no'.

Discipline:
Vocal commands. However we learned that daily walks go a very long way in the behavior of dogs. A tired dog is a good dog (mostly). I would want to go to training classes again to get a refresher. We took classes when our previous dogs were young but that was 16 years ago.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I adore the breed. Beyond their ridiculous levels of cuteness, I also think they have amazing personalities.

I know that their breed history was about herding large animals and as a horse owner this would be ideal. I visit/work with my horse every day and would love to have a corgi co-pilot!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I'd try to alter the behavior to something more desirable and reward that behavior instead.

Discipline:
I haven't had a dog since childhood, so I intend to enroll in obedience classes immediately in order to develop methods like this.

I'd rather have a dog who understands certain commands so I won't have to discipline, rather I can ask for them to do something else so they stop doing what I don't like. For instance, if they're in the trash I'd rather say "Leave it" and have the dog respond to that than punish the dog for getting in the trash.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In the house or backyard (his/her preference). At the barn with me.
