| Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions | |||||||
|
Who is this dog for? |
My husband and myself😊 | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I lost my beloved golden, Cooper, he was a few days shy of his 15th Birthday! He was my sole mate💖 Nothing will bring him back, it's pretty quiet with him not following me everywhere, I went. He was scared of thunderstorms, I would stay up all night, if needed, I have always admired the Corgi, my ancestors are from England, Queen Elizabeth just lost her last Corgi within the pass year. Her name was Willow💖 I have done research on the breed. It would be nice to have a smaller dog to cuddle with on my lap, Cooper was to big for that 😊He was unusually tall. I don't really want to go through the puppy stage again, but open to any age after that. You asked gender, color, age, etc., I put down my preference, but am open to all.😊
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We would go for walks, we live in a subdivision with a nice up hill private park. I would enjoy taking care of her/or him, I'm a good mom, responsible, loving, and have a good insight of what the dog may need💖

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
I have patience, sometimes you don't do anything, other times you may say "no", I'm not the kind of person that doesn't make the dog mind, they need that as well. You discipline in a calm way. Repeating what you want them to do is important. We love watching Ceasar, the dog whisperer. Our dog that passed away, was so well behaved, no issues at all.
Discipline: |
"No", can use a spray water bottle, depending on the issue😊
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
I'm home during the day, He or she would be with me

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
Determine what commands the dog understands. Ensure the dog knows what No means and enforce that the mistake is a 'No' verbally. I need to be firm with the dog and reward good behavior. Always be friendly, never mean, no physical treatment.
Discipline: |
Again, the trainer/owner needs to be firm but friendly with the dog. Show them right from wrong based on events that occur. Reward them with a treat when one can but not all the time. A 'good boy, good girl' can be reward enough along with additional activity, brushing, stroking, etc.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
I work during the day so the dog would be inside. Once home, we would be in and out of the home.

| Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions | |||||||
|
Who is this dog for? |
We would love to adopt a corgi for my little sister Ale. She just moved here and has been having some trouble adapting to her new life style. I believe the emotional support and company of a corgi would be very helpful for her to stay busy and also teach her some responsibilities.
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I believe Pembroke Welsh Corgis are what best fit under the category of a "small house dog" which sometimes tend to be a little bit too small for my likes. I love that Pembroke Corgis are strong and athletic dogs that like to play and be constantly moving and playing. My favorite thing however is that they are very affectionate dogs without being needy animals. At the same time they are independent dogs and great companions!
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We love doing morning and evening walks. They have been a thing in my family for a long time and we would love to be able to add our Pembroke to this activity! We are also very "touchy" people, so constant affection and petting will definitely be a thing with the puppy we adopt. We would also make sure that it is an active dog through daily activities. This since we are strongly against the idea that overweight puppies are "cute", so games would be a must for our puppy to be healthy.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
I would try to adjust the environment to make sure that such mistake is not made again. At the end, getting a puppy is a life change and requires adjustment
Discipline: |
Dogs are smart animals and even though this might sound weird, I believe talking to dogs works pretty well. I also believe that the best way to learn is through limitations rather than harsh punishments.a
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
Depending on its preferences of the weather, probably inside the house with occasional going outs and walk outs. Either way, we would make sure that it always has the opportunity to safely go in and out when it prefers.

|
Who is this dog for? |
Myself | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I have been through a very abusive marriage and am still healing. I babysit my sons Corgi often and have absolutely fallen in love. Any dog, any pet, of course is just unconditional love, something I need and want to give so much. I love my cat, I rescued her when she was about 7 months. I do love her dearly but she is just not a people cat at all. I take care of her very well but she just hasn't come around much in the 3 years I've had her. I think something might have happened to her prior to me rescuing her. I have tried with her, but, I know the best I can do is just take care of her. My sons dog however, has been such good "therapy' for me. She is so sweet and loving. I have experienced many different breeds and there are many I love and have loved, but this Corgi granddaughter of mine is indescribable. I have visited with other people that have Corgi's and they are just such a sweet and happy breed. They give me such joy and that's something that has been lacking in my life for a long time. When I have her she gives my life much more meaning. I won't ramble anymore, as I could write a book about how much I just want a Corgi in my life and how much I adore this breed.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
I have a lovely back yard with a deck. When I babysit my granddaughter Corgi, she loves to run around and chase squirrels and rabbits! I would like to walk my Corgi every day so we both get fresh air sunshine and exercise. My son takes his Corgi to dog parks often and she loves it, so I would like to try that with mine if I get one. My Corgi would be my companion and I know we would do a lot together!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
With compassionate teaching.
Discipline: |
A stern voice and removing the pet from the situation. For instance, I babysit my sons Dachshund who will always run to the fence and bark at the neighbors when I have him. I go to him with a stern voice and say No! Then I pick him up and make him sit with me. I did this several times. After, he would still occasionally run to the fence and bark but as soon as he saw me get up and say no, he would turn around and stop.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
In the house with me mostly but I would have him or her out in the back yard with me often..
