Who is this dog for? |
Myself | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
They are very smart dogs that are also social, affectionate and adaptable. I like that they are playful and have unique personalities. I prefer the size of their bread, the general athleticism of the bread and shorter coat. I've had dogs that shed a lot, so that does not bother me.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
Give them a stern "no", and use positive reinforcement to ward off the unwanted behavior.
Discipline: |
Depending on the behavior I would use a stern voice to distract the dog from the said behavior, would remove toys if being territorial and ignore the unwanted behavior, I would never hit or abuse a dog and do not think banishing them to their crate or giving them a time out if effective in my experience. I'd use positive enforcement to encourage wanted behaviors.

We just lost our Corgi this weekend. He was 14 1/2 years old. He died on Sunday. Therefore, this is why I chose the age category that I did. We would like an adult Corgi anywhere between 1 and 5 years old. Not up to taking care of a senior Corgi for right now. Coco (was his name) was such a good boy. He was from a shelter 12 years ago. Coco was a Corgi/Retriever mix or Corgi/ Long Haired Dachshund. His vets could not agree on which combo. He was so well behaved, that in his honor we would like to adopt another Corgi that needs a home. We miss him so much. But were are ready to give another Corgi and home. Coco would have wanted that. Thank you.

| Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions | |||||||
|
Who is this dog for? |
He or she would be for my husband and I. Also, for my 24 year old daughter who is home on weekends from college.
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
As I explained on the previous page, our Corgi mix just passed away. We are ready to give another Corgi a loving home. I have never had a corgi before him, but he was so well behaved and kind. In his honor, we would love to give a new corgi a home. Yes, I know corgis are stubborn sometimes. They are very protective, voice their opinion often, active but very kind. I did a lot of research on Corgis before we got our Corgi mix 12 years ago (that just passed away). And yes, he could be a firecracker at times.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We would take he or she to the park, the dog park, on walks and play with them in our big back yard. Play with toys also and car rides. What ever they required.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
First I would tell him or her that it was okay, things happen. I would do this as long as he or she did not do the mistake purposely For example, our senior Corgi, before he died, accidentally went to the bathroom in the house (not his fault, he never does this). We petted him and told him it was okay. Then we cleaned it up (husband and I). We are pet lovers.
Discipline: |
A firm no, time out and take his toys away for awhile. Absolutely no yelling or hitting.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
With Diane. I am home weekdays and week nights. I work weekends. Oscar, husband, has 9 to 5 job and is home every night. He is home on weekends also. So, there would never be a time where a Corgi would be left for a long time. He or she could be outside in the fenced yard (when the weather is warm enough), on the deck, in the house, on the couch. Where ever this dog felt the most comfortable. A crate if that is where he or she is comfortable. I have had dogs since I was 9 years old. I love them.

Very large yard to play in, Taking him or her on walks, to the dog park (we get annual passes) to the regular park, car rides, etc. My husband is an early riser. So he was with our previous dog at the dog park by 8am on the weekends. I would take him there at different times on other days.

Why do you want a Pembroke? |
Love the breed! Lived with the breed! We went through a very destructive period of puppy issues with our Finn and loved him thru it. He matured into a wonderful dog. I miss his barking (I know, really?), his ultra sensitivity to sounds, his cRaZy behavior, his water play/run and fetch … I just miss his face.

Regular jogs and walks, kayaking, ball/Frisbee fetch, long & short car rides, I LOVE to dress them up for parades and events (kids LOVE them too!!).

Mistake? Not possible! LOL! Depends on the issue, but discipline with love is always the best approach … same as children. There is usually a good reason something happened and it's best to approach each issue calmly and apply wisdom.
Discipline: |
Tell them 'NO' … take them away from the situation and reinforce positive behavior. Like, if they chew something they shouldn't … remove them and give them an approved item for chewing.

|
Who is this dog for? |
For myself. | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I have always had an obsession with Pembroke Welsh Corgis and since I moved after my graduation, I believe I am ready to take care of a corgi emotionally and financially. To be entirely honest, I first fell in love with their cute bouncy butts! I love how they are great companions for their owners and can provide emotional support. They also have their own unique characters that stand out from other breeds. I have a few friends who owned corgis and I have always loved hanging out with them and taking their corgis on walks when the owners are not free. Since I have decided to rescue a corgi of my own, I have researched extensively about their breeds, character traits, possible health issues, and so on.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
I would love to go on walks with my Pembroke in my neighborhood and hopefully find other Pembroke meetups in my area for play dates. I also love to play tug with him/her and cuddle with them at night when we are both relaxing. I also would like to make bath time a fun time and love to pamper my Pembroke, especially on his/her gotcha day with doggie ice cream. I would also love to take him/her to obedience classes and other training classes as needed so he/she could be the best cutest Pembroke!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
If the Pembroke makes a mistake, I would sternly tell him/her about what happened and why I do not like it. I might also not give him/her treats for that day so s/he knows that s/he made a mistake. I also would find out WHY the Pembroke made that certain mistake: is it mostly my error such that did I place the work papers in a place that s/he can reach. Then, I would make sure that all paper products are not in plain sight or can be easily reached by my Pembroke to ensure his/her safety. I will also inform this instance to his/her obedience class teacher so appropriate steps can be taken.
Discipline: |
I would use conditioning method such as positive reinforcement. I would reward the corgi with treat if he/she does something positive/favorable. I would not give him/her a treat if he/she makes a mistake. I would also use a stern voice when he/she makes a mistake but would not use negative reinforcement.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
My Pembroke will spend most of the day in my apartment. I will take him/her out on walks after work and/or during lunch time.

I will walk him/her daily once in the morning and once after work. I will also seek out other corgi or dog owners so that we can have play dates. | Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions
|
Who is this dog for? |
This dog will be our family dog, for my husband Thaddeus and myself.
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We are interested in adopting a Pembroke Welsh Corgi because we believe that the general temperament of this breed, as well as their size, would be a great fit for our lifestyle. We live near Uptown Minneapolis in an apartment, and love to spend time at home but also enjoy going out for walks and light recreation around town. We have been looking to add a dog to our family since we got married last summer, and having finally settled in the Twin Cities, we are excited for the chance to give a rescued dog a loving home. We have both grown up with multiple dogs and cats, and understand that pet ownership involves a commitment to the pet and to lifelong training (of both the dog and ourselves!). We have researched the breed and understand that they may require some training, especially around barking, and are prepared to train with positive reinforcement and treats.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
Walking and playing (we live adjacent to the Minneapolis Greenway to accommodate frequent walks), and we live in a pet friendly community with lots of other dogs, so there will be socialization opportunities. About a mile down the path is also a fenced off-leash dog park, that we would love to take a dog to so long as it was comfortable with that kind of experience.

| Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions | |||||||
|
Who is this dog for? |
I am a single young professional looking for companionship now that I have settled into my own location/place. I am looking to be a new dog mom soon. I prefer a gently used rescue dog that is in need of TLC. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for your consideration.
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I am interested in adopting a corgi as I have found that many attributes of a Corgi fit my personality and needs. Corgis are not only adorable and full of spunk. Overall, Corgi's are smart, easy to train/eager to please and protect, loyal to their owners, good with families/other dogs, simple enough for an owner to groom, tolerant in a multitude of environments, and conveniently compact enough to live and claim a moderately sized 2 bedroom apartment.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
I plan to spend as much time as possible with my Corgi. I work full time, but plan to spend my time cuddling and exploring with my companion. I enjoy long walks, and trips to the dog park regularly, now I will have even more reason to go.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
I would NOT use VOILENCE as a means go discipline. In order to correct/attempt to correct a mistake, I would use negative reinforcement or a time out. If needed, to prevent behaviors I would utilize crate training.
Discipline: |
I look up to Caesar Millan, being consistent, calm, and assertive. I plan to establish rules early and but in time and effort to training with positive reinforcement. I plan to closely minimize opportunities for accidents, monitor behaviors in order to instruct and correct the behavior/offer alternative behavior versus disciplining after the fact.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
In my apartment-I am a full time worker, so I would leave my companion free to roam around freely when I am home. I would likely leave my pal uncaged even during the day while I am working, unless they are kennel trained/prefer to be in a kennel. I would investigate hiring a dog walking service to stop in to see my pal during the day. When I am not working, I plan to exercise or relax with my furry baby.

No-but I plan to look into a dog walking service for when I am working during the day.

I plan to provide a kennel for my corgi, along with a dog bed. However, I would prefer that my companion sleep alongside me.

I plan to look into a dog walking service to give my companion some opportunities to exercise during the day. Otherwise, I plan to walk my pal regularly (2X a day), and will likely take him/her to the nearest dog park several times a week.
