Who is this dog for?

I, Jennifer Nghe, would like to adopt a corgi for myself.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
When I was a kid, I begged my parents for a dog from the pet store. There was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy there, and the price tag was high. My parents kept telling me to be patient and wait, but I remember crying and telling them that the puppy wouldn't be there for much longer. Some way, somehow, I got to leave the store with my very own puppy that I named Kara.

Kara was the most loyal pet I could have asked for. She was energetic and loved to be around people. It was hard leaving for college, knowing that I would only get to see her a few times a year. When I moved home, she was near the age of 15. I knew that the time for her passing was going to come sooner or later, but I still had hopes that she would live forever. I left for a weekend trip and came back to her waiting for me at the door. She was very quiet, and passed away over night. I'll never forget what my friend told me: "She waited for you to come home so she could say goodbye."

Now that I'm on my own, I am looking for another companion. After growing up with Kara, I can't imagine having another breed.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I would love to take them for daily walks (I live next to a dog park) and close to a beach). I would also love to overall spend time with them – whether it be indoors and on the couch, or outside exploring the neighborhood.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
It certainly depends on the mistake, but I would generally provide proper discipline, such as using verbal commands or using hand signals. I believe it's important to start discipline as early as possible, that way the dog can get into the habit of understanding between right and wrong.

Discipline:
I would want to reward them for great behavior – such as treats or affectionate gestures. If they were to behave poorly, I would utilize verbal commands, hand signals, or time-outs. Repetition and consistency are important when it comes to disciplining a dog, in order to encourage good behavior.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
The Pembroke would probably spend a good amount of time inside. However I would still make the effort to take them outside for a walk.
