Who is this dog for?

My husband, Michael, and I.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We took a few online quizzes to determine what type of dog best suit what we were looking for in a pet, and we matched with Corgi's and Basenji's. We fell in love with the breed after seeing the film "The Queen". We love that it's a smaller sized dog, playful, friendly, and outgoing. We have not interacted with the breed previously. We understand that they are intelligent dogs, with an independent streak, and that they are a herding dog. We also understand that they can suffer from hip dysplasia, inherit eye problems, or can suffer from weight issues if they are not exercised sufficiently.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We have a fenced in yard and would run with the dog outside in the enclosed space. We would also set up structured play exercises, like obstacle courses and trick training, along with daily walks,

Play & exercise:
The dog will be walked two times daily – once in the morning and once in the afternoon or early evening. Additionally, the dog would be played with indoors and out in the afternoons. The house has three levels – an upstairs open loft-style area, an unfinished basement, and a main floor where we spend the majority of our time. The dog would not be permitted in the basement, and we would restrict movement to the main floor unless one of us were upstairs in the second floor.
