Who is this dog for?

Billy Keeler (me).

Why do you want a Pembroke?
As stated earlier, I had a Corgi (tri-color, Pembroke Welsh) named Buddy. Initially I was looking for a smaller dog, who would be energetic, but didn't need miles and miles of running a day. I came to love his inquisitiveness, intelligence, and caring. They are a smart and loyal breed and I look forward to having that in my life again.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Walks, dog parks, hiking adventures, traveling to lake houses, training.

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

Yes

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
We stop. We sit. We focus on another activity or stimulus to try and prevent the mistake in the future.

Discipline:
A stern no. Then we sit and we focus on a better behavior in an attempt to prevent the type of behavior in the future.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I live close to downtown. I would likely try and crate train unless the adoptee was comfortable in a home and we can set some parameters with fencing/walls until he/she and I are comfortable. Then he/she would likely have run of the house while I'm away. My office is about three minutes from my house, so lunch walks are something I enjoy doing as well.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
No, but I live close to my office and come home for lunch walks.

Where would dog eat?
House/dining room.

Where would dog sleep:
Attempt a crate or a bed in a designated location to try and get them comfortable and used to a particular area. Buddy had a corner of my room.

Play & exercise:
Every morning we go for a long walk and play some fetch in the yard.. At lunch we'd do a walk. At night we'd go for a longer walk, meet with friends, head to a park or a dog park, and make sure the day's energy is well spent. Then a final walk before bed. That all includes the play and fun in the house whenever either of us is up for it.

How will you exercise your dog?
Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Fenced yard?

Yes, I have a fenced in yard.

Willing to pick up dog waste?
Yes, I will clean up after my dog.

Willing to use a crate?
Half the yard is a wooden fence and the remainder is a chain link. We've put up a wall/gate to ensure that Buddy couldn't get out until he was fully comfortable with owning and staying in his own yard.
