Who is this dog for?

The Pembroke will be for me Christopher John Sandri.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Besides the fact that I adore corgis, I have heard outstanding things about having a corgi as a service dog. I first heard about using a corgi as a service dog from a following site, http://www.myassistancedoginc.org/assistance-dog-breeds-about-cardigan-and-pembroke-welsh-corgis/. I haven't personally had a lot of experience with the Pembroke breed. I am spending the time I get to read up on the welsh breeds.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Overall the Pembroke would travel with me to work and home. It will be my service dog to help me with my hearing impairment and also as my PTSD service dog. When I am not working I am like to hike and train for marches I participate in so there shouldn't be a shortage of exercise.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
The same way we control our current dog. We redirect her to a more appropriate activity. We use consistent and positive reinforcement for good behavior.

Discipline:
When our current dog requires discipline we just the same method of redirection. When she does something wrong we have a doggy time out set up in a room. When she does something wrong of a certain level she is placed in the room long enough to understand that she did something wrong and it was incorrect.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
He would spend a majority his time with me at work and at home.

There is usually someone home at all times.

Where would dog eat?
If all goes well he would have his dish in the kitchen where our dogs bowls are. We have a 14 room house so we have the ability to give the Pembroke and our current dog separate feeding areas.

Where would dog sleep:
Either on the bed with me or in its own bed next to my side of the bedroom. Unless both dogs hit it off right away. Then they might get their own room eventually.

Play & exercise:
There is plenty of room in our house to run around. We will have a fenced in backyard. I will start regularly training for charity road marches I do yearly so the corgi can walk with me on my training days. Then there will be regular walks and a playing in the park. Eventually I plan to buy land for homesteading so there will be a large private area to roam when the time comes.
