Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions
Who is this dog for? |
The Pembroke is for myself and my husband Dennis. We live on a fruit orchard in southern Indiana. We have a large, fenced-in backyard. We are former corgi owners and we would love to welcome another corgi to our family.
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We had a corgi in our family, Oliver, for 12 years. He was the best dog we ever had. We loved his personality. He was a great friend and loved spending time with us. We'd like another corgi because we love how smart and unique they are. Oliver knew all of his different toys by name and had very distinct ways of interacting with each one. We loved taking him on long walks and spending time with him outdoors. We had him from the time he was a puppy so we experienced his herding tendencies (nipping at our heels) and his loyalty. Before we got Oliver, we got a book on corgis to learn more about them. We know they require a lot of attention and exercise. Oliver loved playing frisbee more than anything so we played frisbee with him almost every day. He slept on a large pillow next to our bed and knew when bedtime was every night.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We would take our corgi on walks everyday. The corgi would live in the house with us but if we were outdoors, the corgi would be outdoors with us, too. Ideally, we'd like to take the corgi with us if we go on trips in the car. Since my husband and I are both at home most of the time, the corgi would always have someone to spend time with. Playing frisbee and catch are good activities.

Tell it no, and try to teach it the right way to do whatever it was that it made a mistake with.
Discipline: |
Saying no and disengaging with them until they stop the undesired behavior.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
Wherever we are. My husband works at home (he takes care of our fruit orchard) and I am retired so we are both home all the time. Our dogs have always been part of our family and spend the day with us, whatever we are doing, whether we're outside or inside.
