Must be OK with other dogs, and preferrably not a dog that barks without reason. Russell barks quite a bit during play or when he is excited, but is very quiet when left alone. This is ideal for us.

Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions
Who is this dog for? |
Us, and for our 2 year old Pembroke, Russell, to have a friend/sibling..
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We have had Russell since he was a puppy; we have fallen in live with him and with the breed.
We are young adults, Russell is our first pet together. Sarah grew up with small dogs (Pekinese) and spencer grew up with an array of medium to large mutts. |
||||||
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
Though we know apartment living is not ideal for Corgis, we make it work with daily walks and trips to off-leash parks and beaches several times per week. Russell loves all forms of fetch, especially his frisbee. One of our local dog parks has an agility course, too. These adventures are documented on Russell's instagram page (curated by Sarah) @russell.the.corgi

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
Ideally, the mistake is caught immediately and can be corrected in real time. We have found that most mistakes by the dog can be corrected by a change in behavior from the owner. Russell loved chewing shoes as a puppy. He was scolded verbally, but the chewing ultimately stopped once we got better at keeping our shoes out of his reach.
Discipline: |
As I noted in the previous answer, we have scolded Russell verbally. Whenever possible, we try to present him with an alternative to the bad behavior. If he is going to chew, replace the thing he shouldnt chew on with a toy he can chew on. Bell training worked wonders for Russell as far as potty accidents are concerned.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
In the apartment. We close Russell off from the bathroom and bedroom when he is alone, but he has free run of the remainder of the apartment.
