Who is this dog for?

applicant #1

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I've always loved Pembroke Welsh Corgi's and thought they were absolutely adorable! I have done research on them and love that they're so smart and affectionate. I haven't had many experiences with the breed but from what I do know everyone loves their Corgi's.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I would love to bring my Pembroke on walks and hikes. I'm sure my current dog will love having someone to run around the dog park with and go swimming together in the summer.

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

Yes

Vet contact info:

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I think the best way to handle a dog making a mistake is to make sure they realize that what they did was bad and that it upsets you, since dogs really just want to make you happy they learn if they do something bad that upsets you not to do it.

Discipline:
I think verbal discipline for dogs is best, I don't believe in hitting a dog under any circumstances. Of course different situations should have different reactions but I think it's important not to be aggressive when disciplining your dog since they'll learn that behavior.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
If someone was home my Pembroke would spend most of his/her time roaming around the house getting lots of attention and playing with my other dog.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
Yes, however their will be times/occasions when everybody will be gone.

Where would dog eat?
In my home I have an area for my current dog's food/water bowls and toys and there's extra room for more. If there happens to be a problem with either dog being aggressive about food there's other places where food and water bowls could go around my apartment also.

Where would dog sleep:
My Corgi would sleep in my bedroom, either in their kennel, depending on how well trained they are, in a dog bed on the floor or on the bed with me. It would just depend on what they're comfortable with and if they can handle sleeping outside the kennel without getting into anything.

Play & exercise:
My apartment building has a dog park right next to the building so my adopted corgi will get lots of chances to run around and play with other dogs everyday. I also currently take my dog for at least one walk a day and occasional weekend hikes. In the summer we also spend lots of time by the pool/lake so they'll get plenty of time to swim if they want.

How will you exercise your dog?
Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Yes, I have a fenced in yard.

Willing to pick up dog waste?
