Who is this dog for?

Miranda & Jeremy

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have loved the looks and temperaments of corgis ever since we met our first one. We've both had dogs our entire life, and have just recently bought our own house, and are looking to own two of these wonderful animals to give them all the love they deserve. We want are a couple little furry family members since we are not planning on having children. We have both done extensive research on pembrokes and feel we are ready to give them all the space and attention they need. Top-brand food quality is a necessity for me, as well as brushing their coats, so we'll make sure their health is top-notch. There is also a groomer right down the street from us and an expert that does obedience training, so if there's anything we can't handle, I wont hesitate to seek help for training, even though I've had plenty of experience training previous dogs I've owned. There are many veterinary clinics near our location as well, so while we do not have a current veterinarian as we just moved to the area, that will be the first step we do.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We look forward to bringing them on walks, to the park and play with them, and we live near a nice lake so if we end up adopting a pembroke that likes swimming, we'll take them out there during the summer. We both have a lot of time to spare at home so a more energetic corgi is of no concern to us. We do plan to own two corgis (but no more than two) so they can interact with each other, and our neighbors have smaller dogs that are very friendly too, so perhaps arranging a playdate at the park with them if the interest arises.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Training and obedience comes into play here, but no matter how big the problem, they are a dog and should still be treated with love. We would make sure they understood certain words for sure.

Discipline:
Stern words such as no, stop, or simply calling out their name. If they piddle on the floor, I've found that bringing them outside once they've made the mistake often works for younger pups. If they eat something off the table for instance, those words come into use. I don't plan to feed them table scraps, and instead I plan to give them high quality food of their own, perhaps making them myself as I am a cook as well.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Mostly indoors in our house, but as previously mentioned we both have a lot of time to ourselves so spending time with them outdoors and exploring (walks, playing fetch at the park, hiking or swimming) would be a close second.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
Yes, our shifts often alternate so usually one of us are home at a given time. There are only two of us living here.

Where would dog eat?
In our living room/kitchen (it's a very open house) with their own food and water dishes.

Where would dog sleep:
In our bedroom, in either their own bed or our bed if they prefer, or if they happen to be crate trained and prefer that, then we would have a crate in our room for them (with the door open of course.) I have never owned a dog that preferred sleeping in a crate though, I've only had dogs that slept with me or in their own bed.

Play & exercise:
We plan to own two corgis so they would have each other to play with in addition to time spent with us. We are semi-active people and like to explore so they would have many opportunities to come with us places.
