Other preferences:
I really enjoy walking, hiking, and camping; and would like a dog that can do these activities with me. However, I'd like a laidback personality if possible. I currently live in Chicago, where there can be a lot of noise, and I would be weary of adopting a extremely shy or nervous dog, incase the constant movement of the city made the dog feel unsafe.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I would like a small to medium sized dog, that is still athletic and can do outdoor activities with me. PWC seem to be perfect in that regard. My friend has one out in Colorado that she takes backpacking and cross-county skiing with her, which I found to be so amazing for their size. They just seem truly versatile. I currently live in a city, but also love the outdoors, and would like a dog that can be comfortable in both places.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I love hiking and camping, cross country skiiing (if we ever get enough snow), regular city walks, the dog park, dog beach, doggie play dates with friends' and family members' dogs, etc. I work as a personal assistant, and spend a lot of time in the car running errands, and would like the dog to keep me company while I work if he can. I would also like to work on obedience training, either on my own or with a trainer. I think it helps to bond an owner and their pet, and gives the dog some good mental stimulation.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I would redirect it, with a command like place, or remove them to another area.

Discipline:
I use a lot of praise and positive reinforcement like treats. I also use the word no, but not harsh or yelling at them, just like any other command word is used. I would never hit a dog, or use harsh training tactics like shock collars, choke collars, or the crate for punishment.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
At home with free range (after initial crate training), or with me out on errands.

I have two roommates who are at home on evenings and weekends

Where would dog eat?
In the kitchen

Where would dog sleep:
In the crate at first, and once he is comfortable and house broken he can sleep anywhere in the house

Play & exercise:
I live near several dog parks and regular parks for opportunities to play with other dogs and run around and play fetch. I plan on walking my dog at least twice a day for exercise and for bathroom needs. Because my work schedule is variable, I should be able to take my dog out for a longer play session almost every day, either at the dog park or dog beach, or on a longer walk or hike.
