Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions
Who is this dog for? |
Us! | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We would like to adopt a corgi because we love dogs in general, but would love to have a corgi as our first dog. The first corgi we met belonged to a family friend. Ever since then we were in love and have done extensive research on corgis. We would like to have a corgi because of loving attitudes, high energy, and cute little legs. We have heard that they love to please their owners and are fairly trainable.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
Lots of walks! We are a very active couple and value exercise. We would love to take our corgi on hikes and even to swim in a lake. Additionally, we would like to socialize our corgi with other dogs and with friends and family. We would love to play games like fetch and train him/her to do cute tricks (roll over, shake, etc).

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
The best way to handle a mistake is addressing it as soon as possible. Yelling or disciplining a dog several minutes after a mistake can be confusing for the dog. If the corgi were to bite someone, we would immediately put him/her in the kennel. The best way to avoid mistakes is to prevent situations that allow for them. For example, if we take our corgi outside frequently there is a less of a chance of a bathroom accident. Additionally, we believe it is more beneficial to award the dog for good behavior rather than punishing him for poor behavior.
Discipline: |
in addition to the last question, methods of discpiline would verbal reprimands (such as "no bite") and shouting (but only if the corgi or another animal or person is in danger). Unfavorable stimuli such as a squirt bottle or clapping hands loudly may also work.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
At our apartment | ||||||
