Who is this dog for?

Us – Nick & Sarah Groeschel

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We want to adopt a Pembroke Welsh Corgi for multiple reasons. We like the smaller size, short legs, short tail, bigs ears, and thicker coat. We are looking for a dog that isn't too big for our medium sized home and we want a dog that can handle the cold. The only experience with the breed is having some corgis at the doggie daycare that I (Sarah) work at. We have done some research on the breed and will continue to do more.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would like to be able to take our corgi on walks, go camping, go on fishing trips (ride on a boat or kayak), go to doggie daycare and dog parks for exercise and socialization, and possibly do some agility training.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
We are aware that the dog will most likely make mistakes. We plan on handling any mistakes calmly and assertively. We would like to train our dog to be well balanced by using leadership techniques similar to Cesar Millan. We have watched many videos and read numerous articles about having rules, boundaries, and limitations and projecting calm and assertive energy. We want our dog to be a fun, happy dog that is well trained. We also have a friend that is a trainer who will assist us in any issues that we may have.

Discipline:
We plan on doing crate training and possibly e-collar training.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Our Pembroke would probably spend about half of the time at home (most of the time with someone) and the other half of the time at work with me (Sarah) since I work at a doggie daycare.
