Who is this dog for?

My husband and I are looking to adopt a corgi.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I have owned dogs my whole life, and while I have not specifically owned a corgi I have always been fond of the breed. Corgis size and personality fits the companion role my husband and I are looking for. We have researched the breed and feel confident we would be a good fit for owning a Pembroke.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We own a fully fenced yard on a 1/3 acre of land for our Pembroke to run, fetch, sun bathe and chase squirrels as he/she pleases. We also live next to Clinton River Trail where we would take them for walks often. We own a cottage up north for the dog to visit the beach and lake several times a year.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
We would give our Pembroke time to adjust and understand that they may need time in their new house. We would have tolerance for our dogs mistakes.

Discipline:
We would crate train our dog. This allows us to use the crate as a form of discipline if necessary.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Our Pembroke would spend most of his or her time indoors at our house with us. I am home throughout most of the day to spend time with our Pembroke and we are able to provide hours of outdoor time to our dog in our fully fenced yard.

People at home during the day?
Yes, with the exception of a few mornings a week where the dog would be alone up to 4 hours.

Where would dog eat?
The corgi would eat inside the house, in the dining room/kitchen where we put their bowls.

Where would dog sleep:
The corgi would have a crate with a dog bed for them to sleep in that we would locate in our bedroom.

Play & exercise:
We have a fully fenced yard for our adopted corgi to play in daily. We also live next to a paved community trail that we are able to use to take our adopted corgi for walks. We also have a cottage up north to visit for our corgi to play on the beach and in the lake.
