Who is this dog for?

It is for my husband and me.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
My husband and I both love the Corgi breed, we both have best friends that have corgis. One of my closest friends has had one for 11 years now. She brings him with when we get together. We take him on long walks and even hikes with us, and he is great. He is very laid back, and is okay being on his own during the day if they are gone for longer days. We have another friend who got a corgi puppy about 3 years ago. We have watched him grow, and be trained. We enjoy playing with him when we are at their home. They are adorable of course, and loyal. My husband and I are very active people, and would enjoy walks with him and taking him to dog parks.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We have large back and front yards which would play around with him in, let him run, and play fetch (if the dog does). We would take the dog to dog parks- given it interacts well with other dogs. We would definitely walk it, and I would most likely run with it too. I like to hike with my sister and her dog, so we would take him on trails year round.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Use stern guidance, with tone of voice, to let him know it is not ok.

Discipline:
We would definitely use positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior, but if we needed to discipline we would use a stern voice, take toys away, or maybe put them in a kennel for a short while to isolate them as punishment. I`ve also read that using another command can distract the dog from what it was doing wrong, such as telling it to sit.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Mostly inside at our home. Again, we have a nice yard so he would also have access to that often.
