Who is this dog for?

My boyfriend and I, we have been considering a dog for a long time and are now in the place financially that we can commit to one.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
My boyfriend and I both have met people with Pembroke Welsh Corgis before and we like that they're affectionate and intelligent. We also like that they typically do well with other dogs and with children because eventually we intend to buy a house and expand to more than one pet. In addition, when we travel to visit relatives we hope to bring our pet with us rather than boarding or hiring a pet sitter so based on our research a Corgi may have the adaptability to be comfortable in those situations.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Our apartment complex as a large grassy area so we would plan to walk around outside with our Corgi, the complex isn't fenced so this would be on a leash. Also, there are several parks nearby with trails we could walk and grassy areas to play in. We also have a large living room where we would be able to play with toys and cuddle.

Vet contact info:

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I would tell the dog no, and be consistent about what is and is not allowed in the household.

Discipline:
In my research with Corgis I read that its best to establish yourself as the leader of the "pack" and make it clear that your orders are to be followed. Since this would be my first time owning a dog as an adult I would probably start with obedience classes and follow the recommendations that the instructor makes.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In our apartment, of which they would have free range minus the kitchen. It is very small and I won't want them to form a habit of being underfoot in such a dangerous room.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
Unfortunately, no. My boyfriend works 9am-7pm and I work 10am-630pm. So the dog would be alone Tuesday-Friday during those hours. We are both home on Sat and Sun and my boyfriend is home on Mondays as well.

Where would dog eat?
We would keep their food/water in the "dining room" section of the living room. They would be able to see us and eat/drink near us the whole time.

Where would dog sleep:
It would depend on their temperament and comfort, sleeping in our bed with us would certainly be an option, or we could employee crate training and they could sleep in their crate in our bedroom.

Play & exercise:
Every day after work one of us would take the Corgi outside while the other one prepares dinner. After dinner, depending on the weather we would play inside with toys or outside in the yard. I also have a couple of friends with dogs and fenced yards in the city so at least once or twice a month we would go over so they could play with the other dogs.
