I retired young so I have a lot of time for a dog. I have had multiple pets at the same time and my animals have lived a long time. I am aware of the vet bills for end of life care. I lost my beagle/terrier in January 2017. I decided not to get another dog until the 16.5 year old cat left me since she was a fragile diabetic with heart/ kidney issues and litter box issues. I did not want to stress her. I lost her this past Good Friday.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
The size of the dog will be perfect for me. The personality of the pembroke seems to be quite cheerful and would fit in my lifestyle. I read that they need a gentle firm hand since they can take over the house and become the boss. The worst thing that a person can do a corgi is put him in the backyard or scold them harshly. I believe that a dog or cat is a member of the family and must be treated with honor and respect. The only experience I have with a corgi is a neighbor has one and he says that his dog is the best dog he ever owned. I have done research on the corgi. I read that some of the corgi's have the genetic disease DM, shed alot, and need to keep busy.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I would take the pembroke to dog parks, walk in the neighborhood, and hike in the woods.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I would scold them but I would not isolate them or use any physical punishment with them.

Discipline:
I have not had to discipline a dog for a long time but I found yelling or physical action at any animal does not gain anything.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
When I am home they will be with me. I rarely go anyplace that I could not take my animals.
