Who is this dog for? |

Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We have done a lot of research regarding the Pembroke and love the breed because they are affectionate and playful. We have approximately 1 acre of land which provides enough outdoor space for the dog for play time and just watching the world go by! Our children are now both college students and my husband travels frequently and the activity level and size of the dog are a good fit for my lifestyle. We are also familiar with the benefits of adopting a rescue dog and can provide a warm and loving home for a dog of any age.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
Even though our children are out of the house we are still very active. We enjoy nightly walks with our current dog and also enjoy the dog park. We have a lake cottage in northern Michigan as well and always take our current dog with us to enjoy the lake and surroundings. We would absolutely take our Pembroke along with us on these adventures as well.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
Our past methods of training have included repetition and reward. Encouraging good behavior (such as good leash walking) using treats for encouragement. As with people, dogs make mistakes. However calmly redirecting and leading the dog to a better choice is our preferred way to train dogs.
Discipline: |
As mentioned above we use repetition, redirection, and rewards to encourage good behavior with our current dog. We never lock our dog outside or in another room if they misbehave. When our current dog was young we did use some safety barriers (gates) to keep her out of areas where there were items that could be easily chewed or ingested. If necessary we would employ this technique with a new dog. We never discipline using hitting, swatting, etc.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
The new dog would spend most of his/her time at home or with one of us.
