I am looking for a corgi who is good with other dogs, cats and children.
While I am open to any age dog, my children need a dog who will be around for quite a while. We lost our beloved min pin to old age in August, and our first family dog passed of old age in 2014.

Who is this dog for?

Our family

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have talked about getting a Corgi for years. I have been around many dog breeds, including Corgis, although I have never owned one. I have done some research on the breed.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We don't go a lot of places with our dogs anymore, but I used to take Skylar with me everywhere (perhaps because I didn't have kids when he was young). We would go rollerblading in the park, we went to Gooseberry Falls, we picked out toys together at Petsmart and went on several camping trips together.
These days we mostly just play at the farm. We have a large yard, pasture and fields. Ruger goes with us when we do chores, fix fence or go for walks around the property. We also play in the yard, but Ruger isn't into games like fetch. Our dogs stay in the house overnight and while we are gone. When they are let out in the yard they are supervised.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
It really depends on the mistake. Sometimes a verbal 'no' is appropriate and sometimes they need to be redirected and/or shown more specifically what the desired behavior is.

Discipline:
Again, it depends on the situation (a very vague response, I know). Verbal commands are always used first and/or in conjunction with other training methods. My dogs have always responded well to a verbal 'no'.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
With our family. They are inside when we are inside and outside when we are outside.

People at home during the day?
Not always. I work around six hours a day, but my schedule varies. I sometimes work nights so I am home during the day and my husband is home at night while I am gone. I work between 3-5 days a week with around two shift a week being night shifts. Other than work we are always home because we have a farm to take care of and children to raise.

Where would dog eat?
Our food and water is kept in the dining room/entryway and when we are outside for more than a potty break I keep water available for them outside.

Where would dog sleep:
Right now Ruger has his choice of either the couch or my ten year old's bottom bunk. If our new dog wasn't interested in either of those we would furnish a cozy pet bed and place it where the dog is most comfortable.

Play & exercise:
As I mentioned, we live on a 40 acre farm with a large yard. We have tons of space to run and play. We are outside a lot. During summer we spend most days outdoors. In winter we do what the weather allows.

How will you exercise your dog?
Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Fenced yard?
