Who is this dog for?

We just recently lost our second rescue Corgi, Cosmo and would like to welcome another Corgi into our home

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We are dedicated to the breed and have had two rescue corgis we adopted seperatly through Lakeshore in the past. Each dog was approximately 3 years old at adoption and lived to aroun age 14. Both developed a common neurological disorders and paralysis among corgis in their old age. Despite the heartbreak and challenges of caring for a dog with those complications we are happy to bring another corgi into our home.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
WALK! Our corgis were both very happy walkers and well liked in the neighborhood. Our first, Kirby loved to participate in agility training. Our second, Cosmo had serious issues with other dogs, and never got over his socialization problems, but enjoyed playing ball in our hard and a vigorous walking routine.

Vet contact info:

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Firm “No”, must be done immediately

Discipline:
Depending on the behavior, a verbal “No”, firmly positioning the dog down in a laying position rolled on his back. We always found this to be the most effective but must be done during the “act”. In general, we can accomplish more with treats and toys, before bad behavior begins.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
With us in our home. If crate tolerant, I would consider crating. We have a dog walker who we used regularly for daily walks during our work hours.
