Who is this dog for?

Emily & Alex (Mostly Emily)

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Emily has always wanted a pembroke welsh corgi, and with our house we are able to look into adopting a dog soon. She especially likes the corgi's "Cute little booty" as a direct quote. Personally I enjoy their playful and gentle nature, as well as typical geniality with people and other pets.
I personally do not have experience with purebred pembroke's, but have spent time with many "partial" corgi mixes which I've thoroughly enjoyed.
As is my nature, I have done a /lot/ of research on corgi's, and intend to continue to do research on raising them and providing a good environment for them leading up to when we can adopt.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Walking, possibly get a pull-behind cart for my bicycle if it was into that, lots of cuddling on the couch, play time in our fenced in back yard, visiting parents and their dogs, go to dog parks to socialize and play safely

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

Yes

Vet contact info:

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Depends on the mistake. If it's a grievous issue (eating cables/cords) I would gently correct it and attempt to train it to not do that. Something minor is a simple "no" and perhaps physically removing the corgi from the situation. (put the corgi in their crate while I clean up a mess I made while cooking, for example)

Discipline:
Typically my approach to discipline is a stern voice and stopping behavior (usually by holding the dog while it calms down). I do /not/ hit dogs or scream/yell at them.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In our home or in our backyard minimally while supervised

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
Emily and I have different schedules, so there would be a few hours (approximately 4 hours) without people home.

Where would dog eat?
Most likely in the kitchen, where we currently have the cats food (Which would be moved to somewhere the corgi couldn't reach, like on top of the dryer)

Where would dog sleep:
We would provide an (open) crate for the corgi to sleep, but inevitably they will end up on our bed.

Play & exercise:
We would like to be able to regularly (daily, or twice daily) walk our corgi as they are interested. We also would enjoy playing fetch or other such outdoors games in our backyard. We would play tug/other indoors games as the corgi is interested as well.

How will you exercise your dog?
Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Fenced yard?

Yes, I have a fenced in yard.

Willing to pick up dog waste?
Yes, I will clean up after my dog.

Willing to use a crate?
It's a five foot fence that completely encapsulates the yard. Chainlink around half the yard, wooden slats around the other half (with chain link behind it). There is a gate to the front yard that is only accessible from the backyard.

Living arrangements:
We will be moving in the next few months and are not intending on adopting until after that. We will be moving into a lease which allows dogs and has a fenced in yard.

Landlord info:

May we contact your landlord?

Lease allow dogs:

Landlord permission:

Description of yard:

Currently there are no fixtures of that sort. There used to be a pond, but it was filled in. There is a garage which is closed off, and some bushes/trees. But since we will be moving, that's not applicable now.
