Who is this dog for?

They would be a new addition to our little family. We're looking for a dog to take on our adventures, walks, hikes, or just end the day with a good snuggle session with. We're looking for one who we can give love to and make a new part of our lives.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I've researched the breed a lot and they seem just like the perfect dog. We've been looking for something that is either small or medium sized and who has energy but not over the top. I've had several friends that have had corgi's and I've fallen in love with the breed for years. I like that they are friendly, they are perfect size, and just that type of dog that you can take with you anywhere.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Hiking, going to the lake, playing outside, taking to the dog park, etc… really all the things that we enjoy with life right now, we would have them included with. They would become a new part of the family and treated as just that.

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

No

Vet contact info:
{If yes, please provide contact information including the vet’s name, clinic name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone. Also include the website if there is one.:52}

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I'd handle it in the same way I would with a child. I'd point out that the mistake is a "no" but wouldn't be critical. Mistakes are going to happen, accidents are going to happen, furniture is going to get ruined at times, but truly I know that it's all just part of the process. No human is perfect all the time, to expect the same from a dog is just not fair. I'd handle it with understanding.

Discipline:
The only real method that I believe in is the "no" command. Doing that repeatitive until they understand that the behavior is not allowed, but again as stated above also understanding that there are going to be slip ups. I don't believe in any sort of force or over the top assertiveness with any creature.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
They would be around me or Matt as much time as possible, especially on the weekends. During the day we both work however I would let the dog be free roam inside during the day (after they are used to the place and house trained) because lord knows I wouldn't want to spend my time cooped up in a cage. I work about 8ish minutes away and would be home mid day each day to give them a potty break too. We are looking to build a house here in the near future, which is why we want to get a little buddy now so that we can build with them in mind and make sure we get the proper space.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
I would be home on lunch each day to let them out and take them on a walk. Our hours are set Mon-Fri 730-4. We (one of us) would be there mid day as well.

Where would dog eat?
They would eat in our dinning area right where we also eat.

Where would dog sleep:
We'd put a bed in our room, but they would also be allowed to snuggle up with us in bed once they get to that level of comfort.

Play & exercise:
We're very active people. We spend a lot of time outside when it's nice out and would have them along with us. Spending time in the park, by the lake, doing trail hikes, etc… they would have plenty of opportunity to be active as well as go on runs with us.

How will you exercise your dog?
