 We both grew up with dogs that lived long, heathy lives are were considered members of the family. We have waited two years until we felt ready to start our search for the next addition to our family. I (Kathleen) work from home so the dog would get a lot of love and attention 24 hours a day!

Who is this dog for?

 Both of us—we are engaged and looking to adopt our first dog together!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Their personality, loyalty, and energy! We love corgis because they can have an attitude of their own and are go-getters. We understand that they need a lot of stimulation and are prepared to put a lot of work into their training and fun activities. We have read many articles around corgis temperament and natural herding tendency. Our most recent family dog was a rescue and I spent a lot of time in obedience classes, at the dog park, and in the backyard with him making sure he was happy and entertained.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Walks for days! We also live right next to the lakefront path and a short stroll to the dog beach by Montrose. He or she would get plenty of fresh air and playtime. I’m also interested in training if there are anything dog and owner need to work on together.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Dogs are going to make mistakes. You can tell them no in a calm manner and move on and reward good behavior. Consistency is daily training is key to correcting bad behavior.

Discipline:
 Calm, but stern nos and timeouts. Positive reinforcement and reward for good behavior.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 In our condo and outside! As previously mentioned, I work from home so I always like to get out of the house and walk.

 We’d probably designate an area so he or she would know this is your space to sleep, relax, feel safe. If that’s not their style, we could fence off an area with a comfy bed or sleep in our room. Depends on what they need!

Play & exercise:
 As previously mentioned, we live in a great area that has a large dog community. Since I work from home, multiple walks a day and opportunity to play. Lakefront strolls, dog beach, dog-friendly patio season!
