Who is this dog for?

 Miles and I will be getting married this upcoming January and we are interested in getting a Pembroke to start our family.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We have decided that a Pembroke Welsh Corgi would satisfy the qualities that we both would like in a dog. We have done research and like the fact that they are active, smart and loving. It was important to us that they can be trained and are a smart breed. We look forward to obedience classes and having a very well trained dog. We also enjoy being active and look forward to going on walks on a daily basis. One other quality that was important was their overall size and build of a small, but sturdy dog.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We look forward to daily walks around the neighborhood, playing catch both in the house and in the yard, obedience training and grooming which was one of my favorite activities with my dog growing up.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		We would plan to discipline them sternly immediately with a stern NO. We would then figure out how we could change the mistake for the future with further training or figuring out if providing them with a different opportunity would have changed things.

 We would plan the most to use positive reinforcement with the dog so they especially understand what they should do. We also understand that they need to hear NO and possibly need some down time and alone time in a crate if they are acting up or even possibly a walk to let go of some energy.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 They would spend most of their time in the our home. Depending on where we are and what is planned they will either be in their crate when we are gone or spending time with us in the yard or in the home when we are home.

Description of yard:

 We have a small front yard that is not connected to the fenced in area. To the side of the driveway and garage, there is a fenced in area with a metal chain link fence. There is a gate that we enter to get from the garage into the yard and then to the back door to enter the home. there is nothing in the fenced in area besides a small lanscaped area.

 Yes, we do not have children yet, but we do plan on having them in the next 5 years, We plan on spending time making sure they have a good and safe relationship for both the dog and the baby.
