Who is this dog for?

Pembroke would be for us. (We have a an 8 year-old lab mix recue, and would love a friendly corgi to meet our girl's sweet disposition. She and the neighborhood, Corgi Martin, love each other. Great match.)

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have a Corgi in our neighborhood named Martin. He stands at our fence to say hello and loves our Maisey. They play together in the yard sometimes. We've been looking for another dog to adopt and love the Corgi personality. Friendly, playful, sweet, curious, loves to go for walks. We've looked the breed up online several times. We know it's a dwraf dog bred for herding. They are loyal and friendly. They love a family and their owners. We already have one canine who follows us where ever we go, and we welcome the company. We've had friends with this breed and have said we'd love a Corgi's personality.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Our Pembroke would go for regular walks.. She'd have car rides, a trip or two with the family. She'd go to the park. She'd play with neighborhood canines should they be compatible. She'd have a fenced-in yard to play in. We have a large front porch and lots of shade trees-perfect for lounging when the weather permits.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Correct her appropriately. Clean up the mess. Accomodate the living space to her needs until the unwanted behavior subsides.

Discipline:
Positive reinforcements. We've used treats. We tend to be calm and assertive to maintain a balanced home. We've used a variety of harnesses and leashes to train our current dog, Maisey. When we adopted her, we attended dog obedience school.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
With us. We have designated furniture for our dog. We have multiple beds in different places in the house. When we're outside, she'd join us. Because my husband is retired, one of us is home for the dog most of the time. We also have a dog sitter when we go away. She stays at our house.
