Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions
Who is this dog for? |
Myself | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I’ve adored this breed my whole life and have dreamed of getting one of my own for years. I’ve have friends and family who’ve previously own a corgi. They are playful, smart, and loving. Even though they’re absolutely my first choice in dog breed, it’s also important to me to give a dog in need a home before shopping for a new puppy from a breeder which is why I’d like to rescue.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
There’s a private park across the street from my home and a dog park only a few blocks away. My office is dog friendly, and there are a number of dog friendly restaurants and patios close to me. I am actively outside daily on either a walk or run and I enjoy the many parks and outdoor spaces Minneapolis has to offer.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
I’d address the mistake by letting the dog know it was wrong with verbal cues like “no” and my own facial expression. If it is a habitual mistake we would learn to phase it out, if it was an accident then we’ll clean up and move on, those things happen.
Discipline: |
Reinforcement of positive behavior comes first to begin early and stay consistent with positive behavior. If a mistake happens I’d do myself to either catch the dog as it happens or address the concern immediately after and never wait for any period of time to ensure there is no confusion for the dog. To discipline I’d address the dog’s health first and if everything is okay and it’s just a mistake, I prefer to redirect the behavior to something positive after a verbal cue like “no”
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
With me at our home or in my office.
