Who is this dog for?

The Pembroke is for me. My husband & I recently moved to Champaign for his work at the Univ of Illinois. We have 2 sons, 16 & 9.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I live their energy & alertness. I have a neighbor who has one. I have researched the breed & feel that we would work well with their temperment & intelligence.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Walks, ball tossing, errands. We now gave a big beautiful lawn. Our younger son loves to play with our neighbor’s corgi & two black labs.

Stop what we’re doing, say no, and move him away from what s/he was doing. Distract & redirect if it was a small thing.

Yes. Our boys love our cats & are good with them. When they were little we worked closely with them to make sure that they learn how to be kind to a pet. Both my husband and I grew up with family pets— cats, dogs, rabbits, duck, parakeets— our pets are considered members of our family.

Our cats are used to dogs, but it’s been a number of years since they’ve been living with dogs. I’m pretty sure it will take awhile for the dog & the cats to acclimate, but I’m willing to work on it.
