Who is this dog for?

This Pembroke would be for myself and my family of a kitten named Mochi & a puppy named Stellaren.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I've been doing my breed research for my next canine companion and it seems that a Pembroke Welsh Corgi would best suit my lifestyle & my puppy's personality. She does better with dogs that are smaller, but not too small as she is 35lbs. I've met a few corgis & I just love their quirky personalities as it reminds me of my own dog. When I see her play with other dogs, I feel bad that I don't have another canine sibling for her to play with in our yard. I play with her, but I can tell she would rather have another dog to run with.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Stellaren & I go to the dog park about every other day and like to play an attempted game of fetch in the backyard. (attempted- because you can't expect Stella to bring the ball back to you.) I like to go some occasional trail hiking with my dog. (not the crazy, dedicated hikes. I like McDonald's too much). We will also travel to Michigan and North Dakata as my family is from there so road tripping is something that we also enjoy doing.

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

Yes

Vet contact info:
{If yes, please provide contact information including the vet’s name, clinic name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone. Also include the website if there is one.:52}

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Breathe and understand that they don't always understand the situation or the commands you give. I am a very positive person and only want the best outcomes for my dogs. If he/she pees in the wrong spot, you clean it up & try to redirect them into the correct way. It takes many tries to get it right! (Rome wasn't built in a day!)

Discipline:
I only do positive reinforcement with my dog (& that's the only way I know how). I have doing puppy obedience at Petco & PetSmart with Stellaren and we've been doing great with it. I plan on us to continue with classes as she goes into adulthood. If there's something that I don't know how to address, I always seek professional help (trainer, vet, daycare associates) as I do not want to discipline my dog wrong. (side note about me: I am a buddhist & we are raised to not cause suffering to anyone and that includes dogs. I take this practice with me in my journey with my pets).

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
I do have a full time job, but am fortunate where I live so close to work that I just walk/bike everyday. I come home for lunch everyday to spend time with my puppy & kitten. After work, we go to the dog park or play in our backyard for a couple of hours. In the evenings after Stellaren gets tired out, we like to snuggle on the couch to watch some shows before bed. On the weekends, we like to spend as much time outside as we can so we go on walks, hikes, stores that allow pets, and visit friends with dogs. Saturday mornings in the summer, Stella & I like to walk to Einstein Bro. Bagels because they always have dog treats made in house that she just goes bonkers over. I would love a Pembroke sibling to join us!

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
I live alone. I live walking distance to work so I would just run home to check on them. I have a webcam at home so I often check on my puppy to see what she's doing or talk to her (it has the capability for you to talk to them). My boyfriend often works in town so he would telework from my house every other week. Stella usually is only left alone no more than 4 hours.

Where would dog eat?
]The kitchen. I have my puppy eating in the kitchen right now & could not think of where else I would have her eat. She eats her food when I am eating.

Where would dog sleep:
In my bedroom, next to my bed if kenneling is not needed. They would have their own bed. When I have my friends' dogs spend the night, I have them all sleep in the living room together like a sleepover.

Play & exercise:
I have a border collie so she needs quite a bit of exercise. We often go to the dog park, play/run around the backyard, go for walks, hikes on the weekends, and do doggy daycare. We are a pretty active household. When Stella was younger, we would always seek out puppy playtimes in our local area so that we can socialize & play.

How will you exercise your dog?
Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Fenced yard?

Yes, I have a fenced in yard.

Willing to pick up dog waste?
Yes, I will clean up after my dog.

Willing to use a crate?
I have a 6 foot privacy (wood, shadow box) fence with a woodsy scenery in the back. If I remember correctly, I have a 90ft x 50ft backyard.

Description of yard:

I have a good sized fenced in yard that is all grass. I don't have any pools or large obstructions in my yard. I do have a little in ground fire-pit. When I first bought my house, having a large yard & to get a fenced in yard was my priority. The house did not have a fence, so we got that up within the first week of moving in. We choose a shadow box style so that our dogs can see view through the fence for some neighborhood desensitizing to people walking by, scenery of woods, etc.

Household members:
{Describe all the people who live in your home, include names, ages and interests. For example, Mary Smith, 29, Enjoys cooking, dog training, gardening and running.:75}

Everyone in household agrees about adopting a corgi?
Yes, everyone agrees and wants to adopt a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

May we do a home visit?

Yes, I will allow LPWCR representatives to inspect my home prior to allowing me to adopt a Pembroke.

Who will be responsible for the adopted corgi’s care?
Julie Nguyen

Willing to train children?
Yes. I don't have children yet, but I have nieces/nephews that are taught to give dogs respect.

Any allergies?

No one is allergic.

Current pets:

{Please list and describe all of the pets that currently live in your home, including the name, type, age, sex and whether it is neutered. For example, Lenny, komodo dragon, 3 years old, not neutered.:80}

Current pets dog friendly?

Yes, all of our current pets are friendly toward dogs.

Are you willing to work on it if your new dog doesn’t get along with your current pets right away?
Yes. I understand that not everything will be perfect right away. My kitten and puppy didn't get along with each other right away. It took a lot of time and patience to get where they are now (they will groom each other now!)

Lifetime commitment to Pembroke?

Yes, I am willing to commit to this dog for the rest of its life.

Return to Lakeshore if unable to care for Pembroke?
Yes, I will only surrender my adopted corgi to LPWCR if I am unable to care for it.

Understand no guarantees?

Yes, I understand that there are no guarantees regarding the condition, health, behavior or personality of the Pembroke I adopt.

Carefully considered the pluses and minuses of adopting a pet?
Yes, I have carefully thought out my decision to adopt a Pembroke and am willing to deal with the consequences.
