Who is this dog for?

Myself

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Aside from the fact that they are adorable, and the perfect size for an apartment, from my research on the breed I have learned that they are very affectionate. While I have had several dogs in my life, this will be my first dog that I have on my own, and a companion as I leave college and enter the workforce. Another thing I like about the breed is that they tend to be very excited and have a lot of personality, which I personally enjoy and know I will look forward coming home to every day.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
This depends on the dog and what they are already accustomed to. Walking is a must for me, but depending on how sociable the dog is I would consider hikes and going to dog meet ups and the local dog beach. This would entirely depend on their comfort with other dogs however, as I am perfectly fine with either options.

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?

No

{If yes, please provide contact information including the vet’s name, clinic name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone. Also include the website if there is one.:52}

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Mistakes are natural, especially with rescues. Using a firm voice and teaching the Pembroke the command “No,” I plan on providing it direction. I recognize that it is my job to train it, so it is important for me to stay on top of its behavior. I will also reward the Pembroke for good behavior, further reinforcing that training.

Discipline:
I plan on using an angry voice and the cage to discipline the Pembroke for doing something wrong.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
The Pembroke would spend most of the day in my apartment. This will include being in a pen, which will have all of its toys, a bed, and water while I am gone for work.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
It depends on the day. I am going to school and working part time. Some days I am out 8-5 and others I am at the house all day or for half of the day. I plan on maintaining a standard eating and walking schedule with the Pembroke however to establish routine.

Where would dog eat?
Inside. I would take it for a walk after eating.

Where would dog sleep:
The corgi would sleep inside. Where inside depends on its preference. In order to crate train the Pembroke, it will initially sleep in the cage with its bed, but I am open to that being in the living room or my bedroom.

Play & exercise:
Excessive will come from 2-3 walks per day. The length of those walks will depend on its energy level, but at least a minimum of 20 minutes. I will play with the Pembroke every day, and on the weekends (when weather permits) take it to an enclosed dog park so it can run around. I know that some adopted dogs are not as sociable, despite breed trends, so the time of day I take the dog out will depend on this.
