Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions
Who is this dog for? |
This corgi would be for us. We lost our sweet corgi, Bandit, last April and are starting the process of looking for a fluffy butt companion to bring the joy she once brought to us back into our home.
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We lost our sweet angel about a year ago. We miss her sassy little attitude, her cute little hops, and her wiggly butt.
We love the breed because they are so independent and loving and loyal all at the same time. I love that they are a big dog with a big attitude in a little package. They are also the smartest dogs I’ve ever known. I taught Bandit to ring a doorbell to go potty in two days when she was just 5 months old. |
||||||
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We take our older dog on two walks a day and when we had Bandit we took special trips to the lake to swim, went on long hikes (carried her up the steep stuff, because she wasn’t allowed to jump) we went camping, and played fetch every day.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
I feel just like with humans you have to understand what your dog responds to. Bandit, our corgi was stubborn, so a stern voice was all it took. However, our older dog Della was once abused, so she gets scared with a stern voice and redirecting her is a better way for her. I got Bandit when she was a little puppy so I was able to train her by positive reinforcement. Most of the time she was naughty was when I wasn’t home. For instance, shed tear open a bag to shreds or get into the garbage. Because I didn’t catch her in the act, I didn’t feel like she’d know what she was getting in trouble for, so I made sure I didn’t leave bags that had had food in them and I bought trash cans with lids. |
||||||
Discipline: |
I explained above. I felt like Bandit responded well to a stern voice and positive reinforcement. I also felt like keeping her tired and entertained kept her out of trouble in the first place.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
My husband and I do both work full time, but we have a big backyard they couldn’t spend outside, a cozy bed inside, and walks and fetch in the mornings and evenings.

Play & exercise: |
All the time! Our older dog gets two walks a day. When bandit was around we’d walk to the park all together and then Della would take a nap and Bandit would play fetch. We also have a big back yard and parks all around for fetch. If they liked playing with other dogs, we’d make trips to the dog park down the road.
