Who is this dog for?

It is for me!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I have always been in love with Corgis and Shelties. I have had 2 Shelties and losing them was a heartbreak, but I would never trade the good years I had with them. Honestly, I love their kind eyes and silly happy faces.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Other than companionship, my number one reason for wanting a dog is to have one to walk. I am alone and enjoy walking in any weather, and having a friend to walk with would make it even better!

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

Yes

Vet contact info:
{If yes, please provide contact information including the vet’s name, clinic name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone. Also include the website if there is one.:52}

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
If I saw the mistake I would correct in a stern voice. NEVER physically. If I did not see it I would probably just let it go because I don't think they quite understand after the fact.

Discipline:
Stern Voice, Repetition.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
With me…..I am self employed and work from home. I travel very little but have dog friends who have assured me that if I did have to travel my dog would have a safe, fun place to go. I have a nice house and a small, secluded back yard. I have a great walking park a few blocks away. I live on a busy road so I can assure you, the dog would never be left outside alone.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
yes, that would be ME. I live alone.

Where would dog eat?
I have a large back hall that has plenty of room. It is part of my house, well lit and heated.

Where would dog sleep:
I would love to have a 'bed dog' but realize that some dogs are more comfortable in their crates at night. I would leave that decision up to the dog.

Play & exercise:
at least one long walk a day. Lots of sticks and frisbee. Short back yard walks at potty time. I also have dog friends and I am hoping to have a dog that is good with other dogs so they can have play dates!

How will you exercise your dog?
On leash

Fenced yard?

No, I don’t have a fenced in yard.

Willing to pick up dog waste?
Yes, I will clean up after my dog.

No, some of our current pets are not friendly toward dogs

Are you willing to work on it if your new dog doesn’t get along with your current pets right away?
I answered no because they both run and hide when someone is here with a dog. They have had no negative interaction with dogs. Kirby spent the first few years of his life in a house with dogs and had no problem and even slept on a bed with them. They are both good cats, interact well with my grandchildren and have from the time to they were infants.

Lifetime commitment to Pembroke?

Yes, I am willing to commit to this dog for the rest of its life.

Return to Lakeshore if unable to care for Pembroke?
Yes, I will only surrender my adopted corgi to LPWCR if I am unable to care for it.

Understand no guarantees?

Yes, I understand that there are no guarantees regarding the condition, health, behavior or personality of the Pembroke I adopt.

Carefully considered the pluses and minuses of adopting a pet?
Yes, I have carefully thought out my decision to adopt a Pembroke and am willing to deal with the consequences.
