Who is this dog for?

Myself

Why do you want a Pembroke?
About two years ago my ex and myself actually had a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. His name was Merlin but he had a troubled past. My ex's sister in-law is a vet and Merlin was brought in because he was being VERY aggressive toward the family he was with, biting them, growling whenever they got within 3 feet of him etc. He was a bully and the family didn't want him anymore and my ex's sister in-law didn't want to put him down so they asked us if we wanted him and we said yes because we both love dogs and we both have always like Corgi's. So we had him for a total of 4 months, in that time he attacked me 3 times and he attacked my ex 30+ times. I was working with him and he really seemed to listen to me and he did seem like a different/ happier dog then we got him. One night I was at work and received a photo of my ex's hand all torn up. He ended up having to get stitches and his brother came to pick up the dog so he could go back with them. And I told them if they are going to put him down to tell me so I can figure out something so I could take care of him since I was working with him and it was working. I found out a month later that they put him down a week after they got him back. So needless to say I was devastated and angry with them.

Recently I've been considering getting a dog for myself, I live alone now in my own apartment. And I thought i'd give a Pembroke another try. I've grown up with dogs my whole life and something just feels like its missing without a little sidekick in my life. I do know they are very smart, loyal and very energetic. My apartment does allow does and they have a fenced in area for them. There is also plenty of parks around for walks/runs etc.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Walks, short jogs, fetch, lots of training, dog parks. My parents have two dogs and I know that socializing is very important so I'd love for them to get along and go to dog parks together.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Say we are playing and he or she nips/bites I would make a noise or tell them no, cross my arms and ignore them. I may also use the crate as a time out zone.

Discipline:
Being assertive but never aggressive
Being constant
Using a crate as a time-out zone if necessary
I know using noise can help them not to nip but i also know it can get them more excited.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
If I am at work or school he or she would be in my apartment, otherwise we'd be outside when the weather permits. Going on nature walks etc.
