Who is this dog for?

 The both of us! We are an engaged couple excited to get married and make our family whole with a corgi!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 While I know corgis are adorable and everyone holds a place in their heart for a corgi, we really believe this breed was meant for us. I have avidly researched the breed and love the history, the energy, and the personality these dogs have. We are an active couple that loves small-medium sized dogs. We are not afraid of giving dogs attention and stimulation, and feel that we are able to match the attention a Pembroke needs.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Walking/hiking, joining runs (we both are runners), hide and seek toys, dog park trips, fetch games, and working on dog obedience (as corgis are intelligent)

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		My fiancé and I had a lengthy discussion about this. We would call the dogs attention to it right away, and start by putting a hand in front of the dog’s face, and loudly say “NO NO NO” so it learns. We read that corgis can be resistant to some training because of how smart they are, so we would be open to either a spray bottle or even guiding a dogs head down (NEVER too forcefully) to enforce the training. We have even discussed crate discipline, however as corgis are active dogs, this would be done sparingly. We would also incorporate positive reinforcement frequently, especially in the early weeks of training/establishing routines.

 Routine building (which I read is great for corgis), positive reinforcement through treats and “GOOD DOG”, using a sound frequency button for barks, and the negative reinforcement techniques mentioned above.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 In our home with us, and going on frequent walks. I don’t believe in leaving a dog to only part of the home, especially with an active dog.

People at home during the day?
 Yes, my fiancé works from home and would be around to give the dog multiple bathroom breaks. He tends to jog midday, which is a GREAT way to release some gorgeous corgi energy.

Where would dog eat?
 In our kitchen, out of their food and water bowls. We would feed the corgi 2-3 times a day, pending vet recommendations.

Where would dog sleep:
 We would feel out the needs of the dog, but either on our couch, in a dog bed or even at the foot of our bed if the dog had separation anxiety.

Play & exercise:
 This is my favorite question. I love hide and seek toys, tug of war ropes, jogging, hiking, and taking multiple walks a day with dogs. I am very active and can match the energy level of the dog, so we would assess the dogs energy needs and add or take away walks if needed. We love being outside and live close to the lakeshore, so it would be perfection for us to walk down the lakeshore path with our corgi.

 We live in an apartment, but it has a fenced in courtyard with fences on every exit so the dog couldn’t get loose. No swimming pools or dangerous amenities.

 Myself, but my fiancé is equally as excited
