Who is this dog for?

It is for myself and my husband.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have both been around several corgis, as family members have also adopted them. We both fell in love with their sweet nature and funny antics. They're very charming and, oh, so cute.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We plan to go on as many walks as our dog needs, play with him/her on our large property, there is a park less than 3 miles from our house that added a lovely dog park area that we will take our dog to often. I spend a lot of time outside when the weather is nice and I would love to have a dog to share that outside time with. We also plan to do profession obedience training with our dog.

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

Yes

Vet contact info:
{If yes, please provide contact information including the vet’s name, clinic name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone. Also include the website if there is one.:52}

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
For example: If it is a housebreaking incident and I catch him/her in the act I would firmly say, "Outside", and them immediately take the dog outside. He/she will be rewarded with a treat if they finish outdoors. If he/chews something they shouldn't be chewing, I will take that item away and replace it with an appropriate dog specific item to chew. We will use positive reinforcement.

Discipline:
As stated above, we plan to use redirection and positive reinforcement
We have already discussed crate training with several very knowledgeable dog owners that we know and plan to use it *properly*

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
At home with us, having free, but supervised, roam of the house.

People at home during the day?
I own/operate an alterations and custom sewing business but I work from a studio in our home so I'm home almost all day, every day.
My husband works 8am-4pm Monday – Friday and is home evenings and weekends.

Where would dog eat?
In our kitchen

Where would dog sleep:
In his/her crate in our bedroom until he/she has adjusted to our home. After that, he/she can continue to sleep in our room at night if that is what makes the dog happiest. As a seamstress, I will also make several dog beds and place them throughout our home so that out Corgi can pick his/her favorite spot.

Play & exercise:
Since I am home all day and enjoy play time so much myself that he/she will get as much play time as he/she wants/needs. Our property is 3/4 of an acre, most of which is back yard, so he/she will have lots of room to play and run. I also go on frequent walks and will take our dog with me.

How will you exercise your dog?
