Who is this dog for?

For our family consisting of two teenagers and a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix (neutered; male; nine-years-old). He would do well with most types of dogs, but would prefer a female corgi.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We love their friendly and smart personalities. I had two welsh corgis growing up and am well versed with them.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would love a dog that we could cuddle with, but also take on walks and play with.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
If they are in the act of doing a mistake, then we would stop them from what they are doing and redirect them and praise them for the proper behavior. For example: If the dog has an accident in the house, we would take them outside to go to the bathroom and praise them for the proper behavior.

Discipline:
We tell the dog with a firm but calm voice "No" and then redirect them to a proper behavior. We give positive reinforcement for good behaviors.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In the house.

Description of yard:

We have a large flat area in our front yard. We use a stake and leash to put our dog in the front yard, but we do not do this often. We have 4 people living in our home and we take turns taking our current dog for walks throughout the day. Our yard has a steep slope down to the back yard and it is next to a nature preserve. We very rarely take the dogs to the back yard because there is not as much space as there is in the front. The yard is not fenced in and there is not pool.
