Other preferences:
We do have 2 kids (9 & 7) and two other rescue dogs, so another dog would have to work well within our dynamic. We live in a two level house with an invisible fence. We walk the dogs at least once per day and allow them out in the yard throughout the day as well.
I do run marathons, so a younger dog might be able to jog a little with me if needed to burn off excess energy.

Who is this dog for?

Family

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We adore the corgi breed. They are so intelligent and wily. Corgis are very smart and trainable but are also mischievous which is fun. We feel that a corgi's personality would work well within our family dynamic with our kids and our other dogs. We have read a lot of books about Corgis and watched a lot of you tube videos with the kids.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I am a runner so could take a younger dog for short jogs. We also have a yard and the kids like to throw balls for the dogs to chase. We take our dogs for daily walks (as long as its not sub zero).

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?

Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

Yes

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
We use positive reinforcement for dog training in our house.
Dogs also need toys and things to chew on. We have plenty of this.

Discipline:
Positive reinforcement and obedience training if needed.
If there were bigger issues, we would have a trainer come into the house to help us learn how to work through the issues.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In the house. Our current dogs have free run of the house. They are allowed on the couches, but mostly sleep in the dogs beds. We do have an invisible fence so the dogs can go outside when they want as well.

People at home during the day?
My position is a work from home position (this was even prior to covid, I will always work from home). Currently, my husband is working from home until March 2021. Our kids are also doing elearning from home. So we are all here.

Where would dog eat?
In the kitchen or could be fed in a different location if a new dog was food aggressive. We currently have one food bowl in our mudroom and one in our kitchen for our two dogs.

Where would dog sleep:
If the corgi follows our other two dogs, somewhere in the master bedroom. We have two dog beds and a large chair that the dogs sleep in. Sometimes one of our dogs sleeps in the guest bed or in one of the kid's rooms. If needed for comfort, a new dog could be crated overnight but the expectation would be that a new dog would be sleeping somewhere between the master and the kid's bedrooms.

Play & exercise:
We would all be very willing to play with another dog. We do daily walks and play ball in the yard. The kids also like to hide dog toys for the dogs to find. A new dog would have plenty of play time and exercise as well as brushing when needed.

How will you exercise your dog?
