Other preferences: |
We have 2 cats and 2 dogs in the home. The cats aren’t particularly friendly with the dogs, but they tolerate them! One of our dogs is an 8-year-old spayed English bulldog who is pretty inactive. Our other dog is a neutered 7-year-old French bulldog who is easy-going but loves to play. He would love to have a dog that would play with him, as he tries to get the girl to play with him, usually without much success. Both dogs are puppy mill rescues who love everyone. I would especially enjoy having an active dog that would enjoy walking with me.

Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions
Who is this dog for? |
My husband (Glen) and me (Deb)
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I like that they are smart, active dogs. They are a good size for our household and current dogs—and they are adorable. (I love, love, love dogs who make me laugh, even if they’re sometimes naughty!) I have no first-hand experience with the breed, just having talked to Corgi owners about pros and cons of their dogs. I have read as much as I can about the breed and really think the right one could fit us nicely.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
Daily walks, primarily. I would like a dog that would, hopefully, play with my Frenchie and enjoy games, but who would also like cuddling on the couch. I would enjoy teaching basic obedience and maybe a few tricks as well.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
Give them an opportunity to make a correct decision and reward it.
Discipline: |
I believe in rewards based training rather than punishment. Corrections are never physical but either a verbal correction or ignoring the unwanted behavior, depending on the circumstances.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
At home. I work from home so I would be with the dog almost all the time. My dogs have a fenced in yard where I let them out several times a day. Otherwise, they have the run of the house. When we go on vacation, we either take the dogs with us or have a trusted house sitter stay in our house with them.
