Who is this dog for?

Both of us. We miss our baby so much. She was an 11yo rescue when we got her and passed away a month ago at almost 16yo, of a brain tumor.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We are absolutely addicted to them! This will be our third Pembroke and we are pretty much decided that we never want to be without one. We had our first one, Caedi, from a puppy until she passed away due to cancer at age 12. Our second corgi, Ein, was an 11yo rescue that came directly to us from the previous family, due to them moving to China and not wanting to subject her to the long quarantine. She rescued us as we were so heartbroken over the loss of Caedi. We just had Ein put to sleep after she was suffering from major convulsions that the vet hospital said were probably due to a brain tumor. Our lives are so empty without a corgi. This is the first Christmas in 17 years that we did not share with a corgi…

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Lots of walking. We live a block from a city owned lakefront park, where our corgis have been issued special passes to chase the geese. That is also where we keep our 35’ sailboat that we sail and cruise around the Great Lakes. We also kayak. And we have a place in Florida that we drive to and spend a couple of months at, walking in the park and on the beach. We have a fenced back yard and we travel to a family cottage up north for them to run and swim.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
It depends on the mistake. We normally use a stern voice and them try to redirect with positive reinforcement.

Discipline:
We have used a clicker and treat for some behaviors, time out for some instances and yelping and ignoring for nipping.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
We almost never leave our dogs alone. We take them wherever we go, adjusting travel to always have our puppy with us. We are very familiar with pet friendly hotels, restaurants, stores and beaches.
