Who is this dog for?

For myself 🙂

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I love Corgi’s. I grew up in the Midwest wanting one since I was young and could never have one. I love their personality and how spastic and chill they can be. Although I love all dogs, I prefer a small to medium sized dog as it is easier to take to work and travel with. I understand they are prone to health issues because of their build/structure, and I understand it is a possibility down the road to deal with. Every time I have interacted with a corgi, it has always been great! I love to play and enjoy their energy and excitement. Plus, have you ever seen a corgi in a costume?! They are absolutely fantastic!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Lots of walks and adventures! I currently am located in Hawaii for my job, so there are tons of beaches and hikes to go on! Lots of parks to play fetch and run around, water to splash in and cool down, and I live in a very dog friendly neighborhood so they always have socializing events and activities for dogs. I also would like to enroll them in training/obedience classes to teach it commands and overall have an obedient dog to make adventures more easy going.

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

No

Vet contact info:
{If yes, please provide contact information including the vet’s name, clinic name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone. Also include the website if there is one.:52}

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I understand that most behaviors stem from cues and dogs reacts accordingly. I would not appraise a mistake. Ultimately I think it would depend on what the mistake is. Ie peeing in the house, I would adjust outdoor time/potty time to be more frequent to prevent it. I would also purchase spray to help prevent the dog from peeing inside. Ie if it bit or nipped at me. I’d use a deeper and strict toned “no” and/or let out a “Yelp” to let them know it is not playful. Although hopefully training and obedience classes could help prevent most mistakes from occurring.

Discipline:
No treat appraisals when something negative occurs. Could also include kennel/crate time out for a bit after the incident occurs to allow the corgi a safe space to relax. I’d also invoke commands learned with training and obedience classes.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
With myself. I work from home mostly so I would be home with the corgi. My office is also dog friendly so I could take them with me when I go to work. I also am an outdoor active person, so we would be going to lots of parks and the beach to cool off very often. I wouldn’t get a dog if it couldn’t have lots of attention and time.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
Just me

Where would dog eat?
It would eat inside the home unless feeding schedule happens to be when we are not home. I’d do my best to accommodate as I know dogs like a consistent and safe space to eat.

Where would dog sleep:
In my room with me. I would have a dog bed for the corgi to sleep in and train it to not sleep on furniture.

Play & exercise:
I live in a dog friendly community. There are lots of parks and dog parks and dog socializing events near me. I also love right across the street from a beach and huge park to go on lots of walks and to run around and play. As my job isn’t a strict 9-5 position, I can be very flexible and take the corgi out and exercise multiple times a day. I also have a large outdoor patio area at my place to play fetch and run around. I love playing with dogs so I’d definitely wear a corgi out.
