We have had two Corgis from the time they were each 3 months old until their deaths at the ages of 15 and 13. We love the breed…their friendliness, energetic, but not hyper, fun-loving, smart,

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Try to understand the reason for the mistake. Sometimes calling attention to the mistake and let him/her know what is expected instead. Sometimes redirection, training with rewards for good behavior….consistency in our training….Changing the environment for some issues….etc.

Discipline:
Depends on what needs to be corrected…in general..Gentle but firm corrections. Praise and other Rewards for good behavior. NO physical punishing..Generally behavior mod…..may include changes in the environment ,etc. If the problem behavior is not being helped with our approach, consult with our vet or animal behaviorists to help.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Wherever we are. We are both retired and like to spend time outside, but are often inside as well.

House dog

People at home during the day?
Yes. We are retired and usually at home or enjoying the beautiful nature near us. We have a large backyard with a couple gardens and a fenced in orchard. Our. Home borders the Waterloo State Rec. area that has many trails through wooded areas where we love to walk. We live near many lakes and if our Corgi loved the water, that would be nice…but not essential.

Where would dog eat?
In the kitchen

Where would dog sleep:
Probably in our bedroom.

Play & exercise:
Plenty of opportunities to play and exercise!!

How will you exercise your dog?
Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Fenced yard?

Yes, I have a fenced in yard.

Yes, I will clean up after my dog.

Willing to use a crate?
A large tall orchard fence…some shaded areas. In the past we built a “Corgi playpen” in the very large garden we had in our old home in Wisconsin…this area had water dishes and toys and some additional shade. We would probably do the same here ( we have only lived in this house for 2 years.)
