Who is this dog for?

Myself

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I first saw a corgi in my early teen years when I accompanied a friend to her horse show. I had never seen one before and from that moment I was hooked. Not only was it quite possibly the cutest thing I had ever seen it also had the perfect amount of spunk and cuddliness. When I think about dog breeds I like to imagine the opening scene from 101 Dalmatians when each dog matches their owner’s appearance/style. Thinking about myself I honestly think about a corgi. I like to keep busy, be social and even enjoy a good bask in the sun.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I’d love to have a daily walking partner. All of my friends have dogs so it’d be great to have a pup that can interact with other dogs. I’d even be allowed to bring them to work with me! I’d also enjoy some company around the house for lazy days and cuddles. In the summer I enjoy camping so it would be great to have a companion for that too!

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

No

Vet contact info:
{If yes, please provide contact information including the vet’s name, clinic name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone. Also include the website if there is one.:52}

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I’m a very understanding person and understand that mistake happen, especially when you’re in a new environment. If I would see the mistake (example they are chewing on my shoes) I would correct the action with redirection. Replacing the shoes with something that is appropriate to chew on.

Discipline:
I believe in positive reinforcement. I would reward the pup for the actions that are desired, rather than punishing them for the ones that are not.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
They would spend most of their day with me. As stated previously I currently have the ability to bring a pet to work with me. If there would be a reason they would not I would anticipate letting them free roam my home.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
No there isn't anyone home. But as stated above I can bring them to work with me. Additionally I have the ability to work from home if that would be a preferred space.

Where would dog eat?
My corgi would have a food/water set up in my kitchen or living area. Both would supply ample space. I've also heard a lot of good things about snuff mats for active pups and if they enjoyed that they could virtual eat anywhere.

Where would dog sleep:
I would like for them to sleep with me. But again if they would prefer to roam the house or be created that would be an option as well.

Play & exercise:
I'm looking for a daily walking buddy! Fresh air is a must for me. I also have a fenced in back yard that would be good for games of fetch and a open concept basement for those really cold Wisconsin days. As also noted most of my friends have pups and we are all very dog oriented. It would be great to have a pup that would love to play and socialize with my doggy pals!

How will you exercise your dog?
Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Fenced yard?

Yes, I have a fenced in yard.

Willing to pick up dog waste?
Yes, I will clean up after my dog.

Willing to use a crate?
I do live in the city of Milwaukee so my yard isn't very large. But I definitly have enough room for fetch. The fence is chain link on one side (with two entrance doors) and the other side is a taller plastic fence. Updating the chain link fence to match the plastic side is on my future project list however.

Are you willing to work on it if your new dog doesn’t get along with your current pets right away?
No current pets. If pets were to be added in the future I would make sure to complete an on leash introduction. If a problem would arise I would work my hardest to try to resolve the issue.

Lifetime commitment to Pembroke?

Yes, I am willing to commit to this dog for the rest of its life.
