Who is this dog for?

myself

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Have two friends with Pembroke and Caridgan Welsh Corgis. My long time auto mechanic has a Pembroke. I really like herding breeds and think this breed will fit into my family. I have talked to Corgi families and read a lot. Know most of their potential medical problems, about being vocal and shedding a lot.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Right now, I am not sure. I usually take a new dog to obedience classes and I would like to do agility. My young dog likes barn trials but not sure this breed would enjoy as much. In normal times we go to dog friendly events, most of surrounding farmer markets, festivals, road trips, etc. Hopefully, things will open up and we can start doing this again and find the right activity match for this boy or girl. Meanwhile, we are doing a lot of walking (near a monastery that has 20 some miles of walking trails. Lots of tennis ball fetching

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Believe in positive training.

Discipline:
Patience. Avoiding giving them attention if they misbehave. Catching the behavior I want and rewarding.
Try not to yell (attention for wrong things) and never, never strike a dog.
I like my current dogs' behavior. Find it interesting how much my foster dogs learned from them. Since I moved to In, I no longer able to foster.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In my home, probably with me, and in yard definitely with me. Have a nice fenced yard but also have coyotes in forest behind me. Prefer my dogs not be outside unsupervised.
