Who is this dog for?

Both of us!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have researched the breed and think that it's temperament is perfect for us. We love a dog that is joyful and friendly, that is good with snuggling and playing. We love how intelligent they are and want a dog that can learn tricks, play games, and play with toys that will stimulate their minds. We are an active couple that would like to bring our dog camping, hiking, and on trips.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Puzzle toys, walking, hiking. We also like to have good down time to relax and unwind.

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

No

Vet contact info:
{If yes, please provide contact information including the vet’s name, clinic name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone. Also include the website if there is one.:52}

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Reinforce training with positive incentives and cues.

Discipline:
Positive reinforcement for good behaviors, such as treats and praise; stern vocalization for negative behaviors; providing positive attention when needed when "acting out;" redirecting behavior. We are 100% against any kind of physical or shame-based punishments ('rubbing their nose in it' e.g.) as we do not think these are effective, nor do they create the kind of relationship we want with our dog.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Most of the time will be spent at home, but we would take the dog on regular daily walks and the occasional trip to friend/family homes and dog parks to socialize. We would travel with our dog on trips and ensure we stay in dog-friendly locations.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
For most of the year no; during summers one of us will be home every day (teacher) and home on most holidays. During the first few weeks of adopting we would ensure at least one of us is home to help him/her acclimate to their new home, provide training and care, and bonding.

Where would dog eat?
We would have food and water bowls in our kitchen that the dog would have access to whenever they are hungry/thirsty.

Where would dog sleep:
We are comfortable with the Corgi sleeping in bed with us if the he/she desires; we would purchase a ramp so they can comfortably climb on/off the bed without putting stress on their back. We would also have a dog bed for him/her to sleep on if that is what they prefer.

Play & exercise:
Regular daily walks (not just letting out to potty), playing and attention, socialization with other dogs at friend/family homes or a dog park. We would like our dog to get good exercise at least 2-3 times a week outside of daily walks.

How will you exercise your dog?
On leash

Yes, I have a fenced in yard.
